He tried for the ball and failed, he didn't deliberately pull him back or deliberately hack his legs away. I'm not sure you've understood the rules correctly.

Either way, I agree with Mellow, probably the first home game this season I've enjoyed as well, great to see and fair play to all involved. Interesting to still see so many empty seats despite two good away results, possibly that was more down to the weather than anything else, hopefully a few more will return for the next home game.
Paint it up all you want, you have your view which I respect and I have mine. I will merely point out once again, as I do know and understand the rules correctly.

Deliberate fouls will still incur a red card. Those include holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity.

He was clearly guilty of both offences. He was never ever going to get to play the ball, he DID use enough force to bring our player down to stop him from scoring.

The behaviour of the Ref and assistant were comical and the time it took them to come to a decision made you wonder if they were also in contact with the 4th official because that should not have taken as long as it did. We'll leave it at that.

He didn't play the ball, and he did deny a goalscoring opportunity, but as I said, I personally don't think it was deliberate and I'll stand by that. You obviously think he wasn't even trying to get the ball and deliberately meant to bring him down and that's fair enough.

So yeah, we'll have to leave it at that and agree to disagree.
