I can understand if he wants to go now but surely there must be league one clubs interested?

For me the ideal scenario would be if he stays until the end of the season like Ruben and Wootton did then go in the summer for free.
Don't know why they wouldn't wait until he's out of contract?

I was criticized for saying I'm on a permanent downer due to selling better players after 18 months or so, that would be three, pivotal first team starters gone since last season. If McG hangs his boots up and JJ wants a move, that's a lot of attacking flare to try and replace for next season.

I bet Les Bradd, Tony Hateley etc etc never had to be rested, nor substituted unless injured.

I know football is different today, but resting wasn't thought of in their day.

    In 1972/73 our appearances included:

    Brown 42
    Mann 42
    Stubbs 42
    Bradd 43
    Brindley 43
    Worthington 43
    Nixon 44
    Masson 44
    Randall 45
    Needham 45

In addition, 3 of these played in an extra 8 cup games and 7 played in an extra 9 cup games.

If he doesn?t want to play for Notts then I agree it?s time for him to go but he?s been nothing short of brilliant for us this season. It?s absolutely no coincidence our results have hugely picked up since his return from injury. Never once have I considered him a showboater. He doesn?t do tricks and flicks, he tries to draw players in and take them on to create overloads. He?s the only player we have that can do that. He wasn?t played in a deeper lying role earlier in the season because we needed his tough tackling. It was to draw players in and take them on. And he?s bloody good at it! The Grimsby performance is one of the best individual displays I?ve seen from any player whilst supporting Notts.
The irony is you constantly criticised Nemane for always choosing to pass rather than run straight at 3 defenders.
At least MK is a damn site closer than your trips to Carlisle to watch Scott play.

I?m not going to criticise the club or the player the model is clearly doing its job.

Of course from an emotive fan point of view it?s annoying and incredibly frustrating it?s a team in our league that wants want we want promotion and not a league one or championship club.

There is the nightmare vision of us playing at Wembley in the playoff final against MK Dons and Crowley and Nemane coming back to haunt us. Let?s hope such a scenario doesn?t come to pass and we can go on and get automatic promotion or not have to cross paths with MK Dons in the playoffs. But there are many permutations and outcomes to this season that we simply do not know at this stage.

As always enough has been done for me to continue to trust the radar.
I think the club did all they could in the circumstances

And total understand the club taking such a big fee for a player who presumably was happy to go too and would?ve left in six months anyway.

Disappointed for us we lose a very good player, one of the best in League Two. Talk on this thread about replacing him with Conor Grant 🤯. We played two months without Crowley very recently and barely won a game, then our form picked up when he came back. His level of creativity is hard to replace. Safe possession doesn?t generally win you games - in other words sometimes you need a player with a bit more about them willing to take risks to create chances, even if it means getting the boo boys on their back for losing the ball occasionally.

Give me a bit of over indulgence from Crowley over safe play from more limited players such as Hinchy, Austin, Grant, even Palmer any day - that won?t get us out of this league so we?ll need a big replacement in my view.
Great post, spot on. Ive never spotted what Conor Grant brings to the table, must be obvious to better tactical minds than mine, and Ive never seen an injury enhance someones reputation as much as Curtis Edward?s, hes had about what, 2 good games for us so far.

Played by blokes who'd not be able to keep up with the pace of today's game. Have a look at some top flight football from the time - the standard and game speed is negligible compared to today's.

Read somewhere players now cover 2 to 3 times more ground back in the 70?s early 80?s.
