This isn't a criticism of the Bros model, and thank heavens they invest in Notts, but unless you are a behemoth like Liverpool or City, nobody in their right mind would see football club ownership as a good business investment. After four years of ownership are Notts really any nearer to making a profit?
I think most clubs would like to follow the model of signing quality players for free or very little and then selling them on for 10x the amount while progressing up the leagues. Most clubs are selling clubs. It just appears like we're more of a selling club than those around us because our recruitment is so much better.

This is how a lot of clubs work too.

Benfica do it, Brighton do it, a lot of clubs all over the world do it.

It's one of the better ways of making money, and you have to trust that they know how to replace players... Which they've already proved when they bought Jatta for Langstaff.

Fancy pitches and paddle courts and packed out fan zones don't win you promotion.
Certainly hasn't been reinvested in the playing squad YET as we know for a fact we aren't getting a seasoned pro to replace Crowley like we need instead we are expecting basically kids with barely a professional game in men's football to replace him and we have been crying out for god knows how long sine Macca left for another striker which so far hasn't materalised.
I get that The Nest will not score the winning goal in the play off final, nor will the Paddle Courts keep 20 clean sheets.

I actually disagree on the pitch. Given the way we want to play, having a pitch that does not end up like Gresham Playing Fields by the end of January is a monumental supporting factor in attempting to gain promotion.

We do not know anything for a fact in relation to DCs replacement; it is not the end of the window. This trope of the bird of not seeing potential value in youngsters is baffling and annoying in equal measure.

You have a point about the pitch Luke Williams is moaning about Swansea's pitch.

Key departures under the Bros. These are the players I would identify as 'key' players during their time at Notts. The list isn't really that big . . .

    - Roberts - Aberdeen for circa ?100k. Good business as injury prone.
    - Wootton - Stockport on a free at end of contract. Credit to the owners here for keeping hold for a promotion challenge, didn't quite work out.
    - Rodrigues - Oxford on a free at end of contract. Same as Wotton but this time worked.
    - Langstaff - Millwall for ?700k+. Great business.
    - Nemane - MKD for undisclosed fee. Grant and money in return, waiting to see how that one turns out.
    - Crowley - MKD for undisclosed fee rumoured to be around ?300k with 6 months left on contract. Great business.

I think there is enough evidence there to suggest the owners are very calculating in the decision they make and even with those players gone we continue to se improvement and progress on the pitch.

The only players I can name from those 5 West African countries between Senegal and Ivory Coast are Titi Camara and George Weah. Just checked and Weah was a year older than AJ when he first stepped foot in Italy...

This is all tongue in cheek but I suspect there's far more potential, and money, in our Centre-forward than the figure quoted.
If we keep AJ we will be playing Plymouth next season.

I suspect we also got a fair bit of compensation for LW too and maybe some for IB.

Gresham was one of the best, amateur pitches in Notts, hence Forest acquiring it and it was my home venue at one point.
