Don't worry Rashford's coming on loan.
I think that getting promoted this season is probably not the A1 priority of the brothers, nice if it happens but not disastrous if it doesn't is the way they will see it, rightly or wrongly they are looking to the future. I do find it amusing how posters who haven't rated our chances all season are now talking like promotion is almost guaranteed if we keep Jatta & impossible if we sell, I would love to keep him at least until the end of the season but the money would be hard to refuse, you never know when he could get a serious injury & nothing is guaranteed even if he stays with us & fit, likewise we could still achieve promotion if he goes we know the team can score without him & you never know what cover we would bring in, it's all guess work. They have to weight up loads of different things and try to come to a decision. It?s not easy.
Obviously if we could guarantee the same money is on the table again for AJ in the summer then we wait it out. But it?s possible that he gets a serious injury. Or he has a horrible run of form between now and then. It?s possible that him or his agent are massively angling for the move.
I really hope that we keep him, I?m not the club?s accountant. But I do think rejecting ?750k for any player in League Two is already extremely brave. If that starts to go even higher than I?d find it hard to criticise anyone for accepting it.
It?s certainly a difficult and complex decision. Promotion to League One elevates the ceiling of the fees you can command for your star players. I?m sure the owners are fully aware of that. However as jacobncfc says offers in and around ?1 million is historically huge money for this level
I'm no expert, but there would be tax to pay on the sale. A quick, uninformed, ready calculator suggests this would be in the region of ?160k if he was sold for ?1m. Still a hefty chunk.
Minds and assessments will have changed for most because of the way SM has settled, the way the team managed the injury crisis, the way DM/AJ and others are popping the goals in and the obvious weakness of the division in general. Take away Walsall and automatic is there for the taking. Strike while the iron is hot and all that and this season the iron has never been hotter.
Let's not also ignore where Jatta's head and heart are, sounded like the inference is that he is happy to stay here. If that is so then I can not see them selling him and "forcing him out the door" so to speak, would hardly enhance the squad unity. If he wants to go on the other hand it is a different matter.
