The club has decided the best way to deal with Saunders' departure is to put out a diplomatic statement. So I'm not going to undermine that by commenting further.
    Because you don't know.

I dont want to upset the apple cart of what is being a superb season for DM but shouldn't we appoint him as a coach immediately. The timing might be slightly wrong as summer would have been the ideal time. However cometh the hour cometh the man..its time to utilise his knowledge and love of the club...!!! Get him signed ...!!

Fair call, we know he has a strong affection for the club, just don't need to overload him whilst he is playing so well

Fingers crossed he would thrive on it.. ! It's just a case of not overloading his workload. I'm sure hes experienced enough to work out how he could manage it.

I agree that this would be a welcome development, but do we know that DM is interested in coaching as a post-playing career? Quite a few players do go into coaching/management, or punditry, but many more go in other directions. I wonder if the stars and planets will ever line up to see JOB back at Notts. With him at least, we do know that he's keen to coach.

One concern has to be that the coaching staff will have a significantly increased workload now being 2 bodies short.
Also I understand that when SM arrived that the 3 of them were sharing accommodation (or at least close by). So if SM has not moved up here with his family (and maybe he has?) then he is going to feel pretty lonely and isolated for 4 or 5 nights a week.
He is going to need a lot of support all round.

Is it just me who doesn?t really care the real reason regarding the Saunders departure?

Isn't his wife from Nottingham and still had family in the area when he was appointed ?. You would think Logic was suggest that she and the family would have come up by now. Failing that he does have her family in the area as some form of support if required.

I'm not particularly interested either (unless the milk bill hasn't been paid!).
