PS I was the only 11 year old in my year who failed the audition to the school choir fuelling a lifelong hatred of singing

We got a new music teacher. He wanted more members for the choir. First music lesson he got everybody up individually, played a note, you sang it, he played another and so on. first lad mailed 4 notes on the trot. You're in, he said. The lad was too timid to argue. next 5 all purposely hit the worst possible version of the notes played and were told NO! Then came the Amster. Note perfect. You're in he said. Oh no I'm not, I replied. So began the usual panto back and forth, oh yes you are... Eventually he asked why not? I told him choir practice clashed with swimming training and I was getting to County finals and hoped to get further. Ah, but there's swimming training Monday too. Once a week is not enough, I replied. This went on for the rest of the lesson. I was the class hero. Next music lesson, the remaining 25 or so all hit false notes and were excused. Fun times.

I was raised CofE - I think all our generation were - and went to a secondary school of Catholic origins but one that was basically secular. Anyway one kid who was Buddhist in whole school, a few non Orthodox Jews and no one of any other faith. 50 odd years later and it's a whole different story and I imagine RE is a completely different thing there.

Secondary school totally turned me off religion, it probably would do the same if I was there now, although the teaching would probably be more balanced.

Lol…not far off. Won a choral scholarship at ten and was at boarding school 200 miles from home till my voice broke at 14 under the influence of numerous cigarettes. Then returned north and had the same experience as MA. Music teacher thought he was getting a gifted musical addition to the school choir. He was disappointed. All I wanted was to play rugby, football and cricket along with the usual adolescent mischief and told him so in no uncertain terms.

However, my point was. My upbringing was entirely Christian and I still identify with most Christian values albeit in a non attending capacity. There is no way in which I am anti Christian.

No I don’t think your observation is remotely valid and it’s not about trust. GP made an observation. You made an accusation, a completely unfounded one.
I am no more anti Christian than I was anti English when Tricky made that accusation ages ago.
It’s a discrediting tactic from both of you and I still await a single piece of evidence which has enabled you to describe me as anti Christian.

I think that’s part of Sith’s point, Tricky.
It isn’t Farage’s fault what his pervy nephew does, although I suspect you would have been rapidly asking questions had it been a relation of Starmer who had been upskirting and avoided serious punishment.
It also isn’t the fault of Muslims in general what you report Adil Rashid to have done.

So far from being selective, we’ve all heard of perverted vicars, corrupt coppers, dodgy teachers, crooked accountants, and pa edophile sports coaches in recent times. Most will recognise that they’re all just a tiny minority. Unfortunately you are unable to recognise that the same is true of Muslims and that the vast majority are neither exploitative or extremist.

Tricky talks about being selective, yet his hero Farage is very much so.

He's been been very vocal about the abuse of girls and women by Muslim gangs and rightly so, yet only last week was pictured cosying up to McGregor and in the US supporting Trump.

Both who have been found guilty of ***ual abuse. I think taking a stand when it comes to abuse is commendable but only if it's irrespective of race, religion or photo opportunity or personal gain.

That’ll be another case of you providing absolutely no evidence then, AF. Becoming a bit of a habit, but fine by me for others to reach their own conclusions.

I'm not so much anti Christian or indeed anti religion, anyone is entitled to believe whatever they want to with the important caveats, that they don't try and shove it down others throats or use to influence other people's lives, that they actually observe and practice the tenets of the faith they claim to believe in, rather than select the bits that suit them and ignore the bits that don't and that they respect the right of others to believe other things or not as they wish.

Frankly don't give stuff what a person believes in provided it doesn't have a malign influence on mine and other peoples lives.
