There is zero chance we'll go down. There's next-to zero chance we'll get in the play-offs. Said it before, this is a finished season and there is no point recruiting right now because we'll get poor value.
The club is comfortable to let players leave and taking a few quid where they can. As a privately owned business, they have every right to do this and don't have any obligations to inform the fans of their rationale, nor their longer term planning. I think this approach is poor, and I despise every bit of the ownership system we allow in England, but we're stuck with it and they can do as they please.
We'll do the same thing this summer as we did last - either with Evans, and a raft of largely older players, or possibly (and hopefully) with this failed effort behind us and new blood, younger players, and more thought about the future. My money would be on Evans remaining. We'll maybe have a few quid extra from the absolute nonsense centenary, but I doubt that will amount to much at all, and possibly the odd new sponsor, but otherwise I think we're pretty much deadlocked now with enough to cope in L1, and no interest in pushing to go further, so unless we get a bit of fortune in the transfer market and go on a run next season, this is our place for a bit now.
It doesn't really matter who's to blame because we've had our chance of a manager who suited the club, we had three chances to consolidate a division above, and on both fronts we opted to save a few quid rather than take a punt. I still think Warne would have stayed if he got a budget amounting to the eventual cost of Taylor's stay, and I still think the club needs to commit to an expansion and better year-on-year funding towards the training facilities... but, it's not going to happen.
Blame is irrelevant.
