I think that if you can show a better outcome for the club, you will have a better chance of moving the goalposts. Stating a belief will only get you so far imo. You need to give the club a reason to change and the expectation that there will be a benefit in increased revenue. I attended with my grandparents, getting lifted over the turnstiles was always encouraged. How do you police the cheaper prices for young fans? Maybe have specific turnstiles, maybe only available for part of the ground, maybe have an area of a stand where it's free seating?

It would be common sense to scrap all over 65 concessions since it's no more than a relic of a bygone time. The state pension age is now 67 for one thing and, with people now maintaining their health much longer, many more people are working beyond even that age whilst those that aren't are generally well enough off that they don't really need reduced prices. Otherwise they wouldn't have retired. There's a very weak argument I've heard that the reduction in prices at football for age 65 and over can be seen as a kind of reward for decades of commitment to the club. That's nonsense of course and the argument is lost as soon as any individual starts going to games after retirement because they can but couldn't when they were working.

With so many more young people now going into further education rather than into trades or other paid, full time employment along with the rise of zero hour contracts young people are now the demographic that are less well off. For these reasons concessions should be aimed at the younger age groups. My opinion is that the young person concession should extend to age 21 and I could easily be convinced that age 23 would be even more appropriate.

Of course it's only my opinion or belief but it does seem, at least subjectively, to be the case and I believe that someone with access to the required data might be able to prove (or disprove of course) the above.

Meantime I'll continue to use my over 60 National 'Entitlement' Card for buses and to travel first class by train.

If the reduced ticket prices for OAPs was scrapped I can see a lot of them no longer attending home games at Dens Park.
As people get older they start suffering from more illnesses resulting in them not being able to attend every home game in a season.
In my opinion the management of Dundee Football Club should be getting their finger out and restarting the Junior Dark Blues with immediate effect.
At the Dee4life AGM in November 2023 it was stated that Dee4life offered ?5,000 as their contribution to the cost of restarting the Junior Dark Blues but nothing happened.
I read in the minutes of a DSA secretaries meeting that the DSA committee were concerned at the proposed high cost of Junior Dark Blues membership which some junior Dundee FC supporters might not be able to afford.
The Dundee FC Community Trust was supposed to be restarting the Junior Dark Blues but it does not appear to have happened.

Of course some older people MIGHT stop buying season tickets if the concession was removed but that's just speculation. I would counter that by speculating that if reduced prices for more young people were introduced then more younger people MIGHT buy season tickets.

The club really is miles behind the curve on its treatment of its fans, especially younger fans, and the re-introduction of the JDB would help address that. However it would mean some admin work and possibly having to hire someone to do it which is costly. Whilst not knocking the 5,000 GBP offered by D4L it wouldn't touch the sides and DSA are just deluded if they think it could be done cheaply because memberships would need to cover costs of employing someone to manage it and that's before any events are paid for. if there were 2,000 members paying 20 GBP PA for example it would bring in 40,000 GBP which would just about cover a full time salary and leave very little to arrange events or arrange membership paraphernalia. Reality is there might be 500 to 700 members and that's probably being very ambitious. There would be massive financial holes that the club would need to fill and they're clearly not willing to do that.

What do you think would be a reasonable membership fee for a JDB club? Maybe the club adds something to season tickets to pay for it thus reducing season ticket sales?
