I'm sure that's going to get people grabbing their phones at the first opportunity to lump on at the bookies with this new and incredible insight.

Try asking AI/Gemini who are the best football commentators and summarisers on TV , then who are the best referees in the UK?

That should turn out to be interesting?

If you asked my wife the same question, the results would be worse. Trust me.

Assuming ChatGPT is the be all and end all of AI is to do AI a great disservice.

I?ve no doubt at all the radar uses some AI be that machine learning (commonly misinterpreted as what AI is), and I?ll bet it can pick a very good starting Notts 11.

Whoever you are, my wife, children and even mad members, if you want to learn and improve your knowledge you need guidance and training. AI is no different.

Make no mistake true AI will improve exponentially as we did as children. That is its reason for being.

My wife however, is a lost cause.
I suppose we should all go in and train it.
We could tell it our current squad etc, etc. Or better still where to find the official data for all clubs.
But it is quite obvious that these systems are nowhere near equipped to make judgement calls or express opinions.
Long Live Notts County Mad and all who write in her.

And if someone designed an AI system to answer those questions that is what would be done.

No, it is quite obvious that just like mad posters, it isn?t able to make judgement calls and express options on absolutely everything.

Couldn't agree more with the only difference being if you asked my wife the results would be even worse than that.

If you asked my wife she'd have the sense to say "I know nothing about football, ask someone who does". AI engines don't know what they "know" about and what they don't.

There are also really embarrassing tv ads where 'Gemini' says "I love talking football". I'd love to hear Gemini's answer to the question "what do you think about the way the Premiership has sh!t on lower league clubs?"

    Go on, ask it?

I just did, and it came up with a very long and boring non-answer:

The financial disparity between the Premier League and lower league clubs in English football is a complex issue with both positive and negative aspects.

On the one hand, the Premier League's financial dominance, fueled by lucrative broadcasting deals, has enabled top-flight clubs to attract world-class talent, invest in state-of-the-art facilities, and enhance the overall matchday experience. This has contributed to the league's global popularity and commercial success, generating substantial revenue that indirectly benefits the entire football pyramid through solidarity payments.

However, the vast financial gap has also created significant challenges for lower league clubs. They often struggle to compete financially, facing difficulties in attracting and retaining talented players, maintaining their infrastructure, and staying afloat. The allure of Premier League riches can also lead to unsustainable financial practices among lower league clubs, as they chase the dream of promotion, potentially jeopardizing their long-term stability.

Moreover, some argue that the Premier League's focus on commercialization and global expansion has come at the expense of the lower leagues, which are often seen as the heart and soul of English football. The growing disparity in resources and attention has raised concerns about the long-term health and sustainability of the lower leagues, as well as the potential loss of their unique character and connection to local communities.

Ultimately, the impact of the Premier League on lower league clubs is a multifaceted issue with no easy answers. It highlights the inherent tensions between financial success, competitive balance, and the preservation of football's cultural heritage.

I just asked ChatGPT the exact same question. A little bit more emotive answer.

I think there?s a lot of truth to that sentiment. The Premiership?s dominance has shifted so much of the money, attention, and resources towards the top clubs, leaving lower league sides struggling for a fair share. With the influx of TV money and commercial deals in the top flight, clubs outside the Premiership often find it harder to compete?not just financially, but in terms of player recruitment, infrastructure, and even fan attention. It?s become more of a two-tier system, where the gulf between the top and lower leagues feels wider than ever.

At the same time, there are still some clubs in the lower leagues doing great things, but it often feels like they?re fighting against the tide, especially with how big clubs are snapping up young talent and hoarding resources. What do you think?
