It all feels a bit unsettling. Crowley going, the assistant coaches going, now RM. But all going to bigger roles, at least as far as they see it and a sign that we have people others want.
With the January window completed I wonder how much RM would be doing for the rest of this season as I can't believe he would be influencing SM's modus operandi. And as NCFCOG recently said, data analysis is now no longer the ground breaking approach that it was a few years back so RM's not likely to be taking any big secrets away with him.
Or perhaps RM sees the timescale to get us into higher divisions a little too long for his ambitions now he has made a bit of a name for himself. He has been at Radar a long time.
The Bros have form in having contingency plans in place. This may be a stepping stone for someone already in their organisation.
Yeah, I like Magpie Circle and him and Stall do a good job with it, but he should drop this angle now and stop making out other non-insider, social media voices are valueless. 'Flock's not a great word either, he's the only social media 'content provider'/numpty I've heard use it. Who does he think he is? Moses? I realise that if he reads this, he'll use it twice as much![]()
You?re never safe if a bigger club or put another way someone offers you a better package knocks in your door.
Blackburn lost their manager to Derby then you have Potter being snapped up from Brighton by Chelsea, Grealish leaving his boyhood club for Man City the list goes on this is nothing new at all.
As I?ve said several times in the last few months you can?t stop people from bettering their career or getting a much higher salary for doing the same job it?s human nature.
You could be old school and loyal like Warnock who turned down Chelsea and guess what his reward was not long after ? Yes you guessed it the sack.
it all feels a bit unsettling because we're looking unsettled! Did we ever hear the full story behind half of our coaching team just upping sticks? Successful seasons aren't usually characterized by inner turmoil.
Appreciate the balanced perspective. The Bros do have good form so I'll come in off the ledge - but I'm leaving the window open!
I was thinking the same thing. Everyone who comes to Notts always speaks of their experience so glowingly, even people like Neal Ardley who was sacked, who then wrote a lively letter to the fans.
IB, LW, ML, RR, NA, SM?.and who can remember who else, all loved being at the club, but at the first chance of leaving they packed their bags and left.
Is it just as simple as wanting to progress their careers in a higher league or do they genuinely think that Notts won?t or can?t go much higher? And if so, why? For their part the owners never seem too non-plussed about any departures, like ?if they don?t want to be part of it, that?s ok?.next!? So that is encouraging.
I guess it is just in our nature now to worry that everything is just going to crumble down around us after everything the club and its fans have been through for so long.
We are through the window and have a decent squad in place so RM's departure will have no immediate effect
Swansea are an established Championship side with not unreasonable aspirations for promotion to the promised land
Of course they have far more resources than any L2 club, especially those that try to run on sensible, sustainable budgets
I suspect that we won't be terribly badly affected by his departure, at least in the short term
People shouldn't equate Crowley's exit with RM's
Dan tried to hold us to ransom with his contract demands and was adversely affecting team morale
If there were obvious signs of progression instead of what seems to be treading water perhaps some of those people mentioned may not have left?
Now is the time to offer Charlie Whitaker a long term contract or I can see him snapped up by Swansea sharpish.
