This is meaningless, afaik, people can still be granted indefinite leave to remain, they don't need citizenship for that so the UK is still going to be stuck with them.

Yes it would indeed be lost on me, quite rightly. I tend just slightly left of centre these days and therefore don't have difficulty in understanding the opinions of others on both sides, except for those at the extreme ends of the scale. I must, however, mention that your understanding of the word temerity may be slightly off but I suppose it would be.

ETA: Presumably you being so temerous as to claim that they are temerous (and that it is a fact) is not based solely on your political persuasion?

Hmmmm. I keep reading others on here saying that Brexit would have been great if it had been implemented properly. It was obvious at the time of the vote that Boris and his cronies would be the ones implementing it. It was also obvious that they were clueless. They didn?t think they would win, and had no credible plan in place when they did. If you think that Farage would have done a better job, we will have to respectfully disagree.

I don?t think Mr Farage should have been involved in the post Brexit negotiations.

Mr Cameron didn?t have a plan as it appears he felt if leaked it could affect the voting . This was a dereliction of duty and a disgrace.

I think that the Government (May, Johnson and Sunkak) and the Civil Service could and should have a much better job than they did.

This has left us with a lot of the downsides of Brexit without enough of the benefits. This needs sorting but I am not sure who would be the best person to sort it but my belief is that Mr Starmer is not that man. In the words of Angela Rayner he couldn?t run a bath. I am not sure that Mr Farage is the best person either or Ms Badenock.

So while I am a Brexit supporter (mainly due to my dislike of the EU parliament) I am unsure how we can resolve the issues it has created.

Some fair points, but I would reply to your last sentence. The issues can?t be resolved because despite the obvious issues with the EU, it was still in our best interests overall to remain.

I believe the EU is a useless and corrupt organisation that is doomed to failure. I voted to remain in a common market in 1975 which was a great idea. If we could go back to the common market without the political union it would still have my vote.

I voted remain but do agree that the EU has major issues, just thought there was a better chance of improving things from inside the EU rather than outside. I my opinion there were and probably still are far too many unelected EU officials in Brussels with a massive Federalistic agenda and it is this combined with the immigration issues that have driven the rise in far right parties. I think that many who vote for them are not truely far right themselves, they just have no one else to vote for who seems to offer any serious solutions that address their concerns.

I can?t disagree with your view of a Federalistic EU agenda Bule and your views on the reasons for the increase in the European votes for far right parties. We probably only disagree whether in the long term we will be better inside or outside the EU. I hope for our country I am right but I am not yet convinced and it maybe you were right.
