No alcohol will be allowed/sold at the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Doesn't impact me as I won't be there but what does everyone else think? Terrible move as 'having a beer with mates' is at the root of the sport? Good move considering the behaviour of England and other countries' fans after a skinful?

A Non footballing country dictates what we can & can?t do, if there wasn?t so much money involved they would be told to shove it. Not good for the Rainbow brigade.
Is it any different from people being expected to abide by the laws of the US when the World Cup is here in 2026? You'll certainly be under the threat of being arrested if you are drinking alcohol in a place where it's prohibited e.g. public spaces like parks/beaches of if you are under 21 and drinking alcohol anywhere.
At least in the US you're considered grown up enough to make your own decisions rather than the state taking them on your behalf.
Did anyone think they would be allowed beer.
I was on a flight from Dubai and we made an unscheduled stop in Damamm or Dhahran in Saudi. I forget which exactly but remember the announcement that all alcoholic drinks were off, trolleys locked away as soon as we entered Saudi air space.
Someone will be detained somewhere causing a diplomatic incident for their countries government. 1/10 it's a Brit.
