Isn't it even more convoluted than that? The council own the land and the Haydn Green Estate hold the lease which we've got a rental agreement for a long, long time. So long story short, no - the only way he would've got paid was pence on the pound if he put us into oblivion.

The club own the buildings, their very worth is what has kept us from liquidation on several occasions.

Apparently a lot of the debt is tax payments due to our very own HMRC.

Again, how does this happen? A celebrity and high-earner like him would surely have a decent accountant. I don't understand how he could just overlook paying his taxes.

He sued his financial advisor for defauding him out of ten million quid. Didn't see any of it back.

He also got caught up in the big Eclipse Film tax fraud, which cost a lot of people a lot of unexpected tax bills.

Many specialist tax firms sell expensive tax avoidance schemes. Once the fees have been paid they prove useless when HMRC ruthlessly attack the schemes and leave taxpayers with large, unexpected tax bills. See OchPies comment about Eclipse Films. There was a similar mess around Rangers paying their players with loans !

His accountants declared a three Faria Alam once they'd inspected the books.
Good old Sven - he made Henry Kissinger look like a naive youth.
