Should always be striving to be competitive at the top level, but I miss the days where there was loyalty between both the club and the players with the latter mostly coming up through the youth and reserve systems and not simply temporary "consumables" brought and bought in (and, perhaps understandably, given how fickle clubs can also be) looking for a short term paycheck.

That said, I do think Farke has done a better than reasonable job in putting together a first team squad that is playing for side over self (they wouldn't be doing as well as they are if they weren't).

If we are good enough over the long haul to get promoted, I hope we don't use it as an excuse to wholesale dismantle everything and discard those who will have got us there.

We'll need strengthening to keep our head above water with the big boys, but the shirt (and those wearing it) should mean something to those watching, otherwise we might as well just switch allegiance to the shiniest "form" team every season.
