Thread: Ratings v Barrow

Bass - 6 had little to do and not sure what he did do.

Macari -5 looked well off the pace and not found his form or touch from before his injury.

Platt - 4 I like Platt but he was a main cause of slow build up play tonight with his constant standing still with the ball.

Bedeau - 6.5 for the first 70 minutes he was the only player that ran with the ball with any purpose.

Palmer - 5 slow amd passing was off.

Abbott - 7.5 carrying the midfield.

Gordon - 5 did nothing then last 5 minutes when it was too late finally started to take his full back on.

Jarvis - 3 good god we have given him a 3 year deal. Stop playing inverted wing backs. Has about as much physical power as a 3 watt bulb.

Whitaker - 4 light weight came alive the last 5 minutes like Gordon did. Sloppy passing and caught in possession time and time again.

Traore - 4 I got excited by his inclusion in the starting line up but I have since learned my lesson. I may be being unkind as we worked the ball so slowly he was never going to get given the ball in the right areas. Needs to be enrolled at a gym though.

Jatta - 5 I have said befire when he doesnt score he looks a poor player and in this showing Plymouth must be grateful we turned their offer down.

Grant - 6.5 scored and tried to make it happen.

Tsaroulla - 6.5 had a go and wanted the ball
    And looked positive.

Maynard - 1 his football is bland and his game management is missing. Time is running out for him. He isnt the answer and he never was.

Forget promotion. We're not nearly ready for that yet. If we produced performances like we have in most of the recent games in League One we would get annihilated. First task is to get some energy, enthusiasm and bravery back into the side. Some people are saying we're missing our most creative players and that might be a factor to a degree, but frankly I'm seeing a poorly motivated, poorly prepared team regardless of which players are on the pitch.

Think the ratings are a tad generous to be fair. I cannot believe I was forced into watching Will Jarvis play football again after that disgrace he put in against Tranny. Particularly when we had a perfectly serviceable lwb in Nick Tsaroulla who hasnt been great lately but offers miles more than Jarvis.

Whittaker and Traore were just awful, lightweight and anonymous respectively. Palmers home performances have been sludgy this season. From the starting lineup only George Abbot looks like he actually cared tonight, and hes not even our player!

I think your last sentence really sums up all that has been wrong recently! Abbott will go on to much better things after leaving us, sadly on that showing no others will.

I was pleased to hear that Traore was getting a start, but he was absolutely woeful. I know the service he got was poor, but he looked completely lost and his weak challenge from the corner let to them getting what turned out to be the winner. I won't judge him yet, but he was a massive disappointment tonight.

Traore definitely did not look like Jatta’s replacement tonight. Whitaker did not look ready for men’s football. Jarvis did not look interested.

Bass - 6 - Don?t think he can do anything with either goal and can?t remember him being involved otherwise.

Macari - 5 - Rusty, though don?t agree he was as bad as others in the thread have suggested.
Platt - 5.5 - Ok but slow on the ball.
Bedeau - 6.5 - Tried to drive us forward.

Gordon - 5 - Not really involved which isn?t is fault, but then didn?t really do a lot when he did get the ball. Often took the wrong decision in coming inside or floating crosses in.

Abbott - 7 - Is our other remaining ?special? player above the level along with McGoldrick and Jones who we rely on to bail us out in the absence of any evidence of a gameplan or coherent coaching. Way above the rest for the second game running.

Palmer - 5.5 - Does the job he?s on the pitch to do, but could do with coming off set pieces.

Jarvis - 5 - Has ?moments? but has disappointed. We surprised to see him starting again at LWB after the last home game.

Whitaker - 3 - A clanger for the ages, must?ve given the ball away 10-15 times and it was rarely trying to create something. A total passenger.
    Traore - 4 - Anonymous.
Jatta - 5 - No service but missed the one chance he got.

Grant - 6.5 - Took his goal very well.
Tsaroulla - 7 - Made a massive difference, should?ve started or at least been on earlier. Brilliantly created one chance that Whitaker should?ve scored.
    Johnson - 6 - Did ok.

Maynard - Another game where a very limited, out of form team have come to Meadow Lane and leave with points. Another game where he has been painfully slow with his subs, which largely are clearly preplanned and not a reaction to what is happening in the game.

For a Head Coach, what evidence of actual coaching - at least in terms of attacking play and on-the-ball work - are we seeing?

People are critical of the January transfer business but this is the model that?s worked successfully with competent head coaches. Langstaff wasn?t a readymade player. LW moulded him from a free scoring winger at a lower level to the most potent centre forward in the country. Rodrigues was misused on the wing or left out altogether by Ardley until Burchnall came in and played to his strengths. It?s down to the Head Coach to make it work but unfortunately the best attacking play under Maynard has largely been down to individuals - Jones, McGoldrick, Crowley and Abbott - clearly too good for the level.

What happened to being greater than the sum of our parts, and ultimately punching above our weight? It?s the complete opposite currently. This season, in such a below par League Two, is starting to feel like a massive wasted opportunity.

We seem to have signed a bunch of average L2 players (Gordon, Tsaroulla) and untested youngsters (Jarvis, Whittaker). This makes us too reliant on stars like JJ and Didzy, but when they're out, we just look ordinary at best. No way was that a promotion-chasing side last night.

We're just too easy to set up against at home. The blueprint is there for others to follow: sit back, stay organised, and wait for your chance. Simple. Home games have become a chore. When was the last time we comfortably beat a side at ML?

If that was the intention, then god help us next season.

It quickly went from why isn?t Maynard playing Traore to what did Traore do on the pitch in just one start!!

    Very early days
