Agreed. If we do manage to get promoted we are extremely unlikely to be the same team up there as we are currently as the club would almost definitely strengthen the squad to compete in L1, making it a moot point at best whether we are strong enough for L1 now.

The whole stats game can be manipulated to fit a narrative. I?m sure the club will look at it and go we have the best possession stats, put most crosses in the box and have most shots. I?d argue that we wouldn?t score well statistically speaking in areas like duals won, successful dribbles or even clear cut chances.
How often do we see a player take a man on? I happens so infrequently and is an obvious way to ?mix it up?.

Barrow last night out battled us in what felt like every 50-50 being lost.

We don?t have the nous in midfield to pick teams apart and the movement up front suffers as they move less as they know they won?t get the ball.

I saw a number of occasions in the first 10-15 minutes when a pass was played forward and our player rolled his man and could move forward with the ball at feet. However, each time the ball came backwards.

I believe for the season we are the highest for clear cut chances created and also the highest for the amount missed.

Some excellent and accurate comments in this thread. Unacceptable performance last night for me.

The contrast between home and way has been there for all to see but it?s getting bigger by the week. We created so much last time at Fleetwood scored 2 and created 4 more great chances. That is a lot for an away side at home it?s so different and we can all see why but not straightforward to solve but something needs to change. Maynard learnt hasn?t worked out how to be effective when we are deprived the space we are given in away games.

Lack of Physicality in midfield, where the battle is usually won or loss, was my biggest concern this season and still is

We’ve been without Robertson pretty much all season and haven’t signed anyone as cover for him. That’s looking like a poor decision.

We need to be more pragmatic and have another plan when the possession-based play isn't working.
So, I think what you mean is that we need a plan B.
You might think - surely that can't be THAT difficult? But it's the footballing world equivalent of "General Relativity" 1915!

Regarding missed chances. It stands to reason that if you create more chances than anyone else you're likely to miss more chances than anyone else.

I took a closer look at Jatta before last nights game and he has the second best conversion rate in the league, he scores 1 goal in every 4 attempts, only two other players have bettered that, Nathan Lowe for Walsall before he gat recalled from his loan and Jamille Matt also at Walsall, but he's played much fewer minutes than Jatta.

I think the worry we should have is not how many we are missing but how many we are creating because that metric appears to have slipped off the edge of a cliff over last few games.

It feels like deja vu, last season we started well then an average mid term to eventually fall away into obscurity. Hope the same thing doesn't happen again.

Jatta looks absolutely knackered, however due to injuries and general lack of striker options can't be rested.

Not sure why he should be knackered ? Are the days gone where a player can?t be an ever present for a season ? He?s had 2 lay offs through concussion. They?re professional sportsmen who should be able to sustain x 2 90+ minutes weekly surely ?
