Better than ok infact !!!x
Re injuries, you’re glossing over the fact that we’ve signed plenty of sick notes or players coming through the door unfit (Cundy, Robertson, Ness, Macari).

Re departures, you’re glossing over the Saunders bros quitting without a job to go to.

Re the squad, we saw last season that the best teams have strength in depth. We didn’t have it last season and definitely don’t have it this season.

Results have generally glossed over performances - how many times have you seen us this season and thought, “We were great today”? I’m struggling to think of more than half a dozen times.

As much as I want results, as much as I want promotion, the biggest disappointment in recent weeks has been the complete lack of entertainment. We're now a slow, dull, backwards and sideways, uninspiring team to watch, and it doesn't surprise me that attendances are starting to decline. It's sad to see, only 18 months to two years after seeing some of the most entertaining football I've ever seen at the Lane. Even in the games we didn't win, we still produced some fantastic one-touch football and played with joie de vivre. All we really lacked was a couple of central defenders who could really defend, and now we've got those in Plat and Bedeau, but the rest of the team has fallen into turgid lethargy.

Exactly this Jackal. I said a few weeks ago I just like to see some entertainment after a tough week at work, maybe cheer a goal or two, but since that little run we went in after beating Bradford (which wasn’t a great performance actually) and MK Dons we have been a chore to watch.

People were saying that good teams win when playing poorly. I always think poor performances quickly turn into poor results, which we are seeing now. Worryingly I can’t currently seeing it coming to an end and with all the will in the world I can’t see Maynard turning this around.

We’re totally devoid of anything that a successful team needs at the minute, I’d love to know what’s gone on behind closed doors because we’re not witnessing a happy squad lately. I’ve also started to wonder if these injuries to Didzy in particular and JJ have more of the Dan Crowley injury situation about them rather than genuine injuries. It’s now clear that our January business, including the loss of the Saunders brothers, has been atrocious.

Where does that leave us now? Well, we’re 5th with a game in hand but with performances and morale dropping quicker than katy prices britches on a sunny holiday. Are the owners happy to see this season out, watching this decline without interfering or are they willing to step in and be proactive?

I always remember Mark Wharburton being sacked from Brentford having finished in the playoffs or just outside of them in the championship one season and thinking it was unfair. But the owners spotted something and decided they should be doing better. Should Notts be doing better or has SM been dealt a really unlucky hand by the owners? In losing Macca, JJ, Didzy, Crowley, Nemane, his two closest allies. and the director of football in the space of one season and replacing them with young, lightweight and inexperienced alternatives, is SM doing as well as anyone could with this current squad?

I know we aren’t the most optimistic bunch int he football world but even Swale must be thinking this season is turning sour pretty quickly now. The games have become a chore for even the most ardent supporters, it’s no wonder the floating fans have already started to stay away.

He managed to make Stead into something that wasn't a donkey! I'd love to see what he could do with Jones, Abbott, Jatta and co!
