So you'd say as a club we are in a similar state to what we were in the late Hardy era?
Also we didnt get 'outcompeted' (what does that even mean) by Barrow/Harrogate/Sutton budget wise did we? For the most part theyd been building with the same manager for a while and eventually had a good season, something that those with a distinct lack of foresight cant see on here.
If we were in tier 2 and collecting tier 2 tv money whose to say we couldnt compete, weve already shown we are adept at buying cheap and selling high in the transfer market - the difference between them and Hardy is they have said we could, they havent said FIVE YEAR PLAN, or KEVIN NOLAN WILL MANAGE IN THE PREM. Again you are choosing to remember / forget certain things.
Grimsby, like us, came down and stuck with the same manager that they got relegated with. They went straight back up.
Hartlepool went up (with Sutton) having changed the manager during the season, on an average gate of 3,355 before lockdown having finished 12th.
Hardy finished 16th in his first L2 season (Reedtz 14th), 2nd season Hardy finished 5th (we're currently 5th), so it's absolutely like for like so far, based on what actually matters, the league table. Whatever Hardy did behind the scenes - having taken on a fire-fighting situation himself - and whatever the bros are doing.... more or less two seasons in L2 - the end product is virtually identical.
MKD finished 4th last season, who thought they would be where they are now? I'm not anticipating a relegation battle next season if we don't go up, but I wouldn't be dismissing the prospect of a fight against the drop as the howling of a lunatic either. The club is currently not in a good place and things could go south very quickly.
If this was Hardy or the Trews, people would be freaking out with "how much more of a farce can this club get????"
We've just had arguably the man solely responsible for overseeing and being the brains behind the "model" over the past 6 years walking out on the club, one of the 3 best players asking to leave because he wasn't happy with the club, the two coaches being forced out and not replaced, one of the two best players remaining that we seem to be totally relying on to save the season being aged 35 whilst the other is massively injury prone, overseen by a manager who spent his playing career with clubs like Hitchin and Aylesbury and whose crowning achievement before coming to us was finishing 13th in tier 5.
I suspect and fear you presumption is wrong and he is talking behind the scenes.
upthemaggies certainly does seem to have it in for the current owners having read his/her comments this season.
Although entertaining and fun to highlight the contrasts we really should not be comparing Alan Hardy with the Reedtz brothers. Other than both being owners of NCFC they have very little in common in every other aspect of running and owning a football club.
Thank the lord. We have our club back
Dont let the facts get in the way of a good scaremongering! The player not happy at the club would have been happy if we had given him a substantial pay rise. We didn't so hes happy at MKD.You have actually nailed why we are poor st present, yes both our creatively best players are out !! You mentioned our current managers playing and managing career but how was his compared to say William's or Jim o'Brien? Quite a few posters seem to think they are the answer.Maynards record with a fully fit squad is very good so I think the answer is a fit squad equals a chance of automatic if not a definite play off place. Out of interest who would you replace Maynard with.?
