I'm in my sixties and was at Tannadice when United played Hearts in a Scottish Cup classic that finished 6-5 to Hearts a year before man set foot on the moon.In the first season of the newly formed 10 team premier league 75/76 i was at Ibrox to see the 0-0 draw with the McAlpine penalty miss that relegated Dundee FC and changed the footballing landscape in Dundee for the following 40 years

In my bottom drawer i have a Barcelona newspaper with the English great Gary Lineker on his knees crying with the scoreboard in the background FC Barcelona 1 Dundee United 2.

United had higher average attendances than Dundee in 68/69, 69/70, 70/71 and from 76 onwards (source Roar of the Crowd David Ross). The start of the transition in United emerging as the bigger team happened earlier than Dundee fans care to remember. Over the whole period from mid 60s to mid 70s there wasn't that much difference between the 2 averages. Then we took over and rule the city.

Canna be many left who would remember Dundee as the big team in the city.
Dodetap1 age mid 60s, took to first game by my dad in mid 60s - beat Aberdeen - and my grandad went to see Dundee Hibs in the 20s
Proud moment on 1/3/2025 when my great-grandson was the 6th generation of the family to be given a United strip for his birthday
