Im not a fan of Grant Hanley and considering he isnt getting a game for Birmingham City in league one you could argue that he shouldnt have been in the squad.

But fair play to him tonight because we won and kept a clean sheet, holding on a bit in the second half but a decent result.

I assumed Hirst was a teenager as I was unfamiliar with him. Thought hard paper round, looked him up to find out he’s 26

Then wondered far he’d been - silly question, England.

In a similar vein our Danish defender Stefan Gartenmann now plays for Switzerland.

Am I correct in thinking we’ve never had a Swiss player? Can’t think of one?

Florian Kamberi (for a mercifully short period) though after playing for Swiss U21s think he opted for Albania

Forgot about him. Not that he was Swiss, just forgotten about him altogether.

Kamberi/Hornby/Henry - what a ****ty window that was. We were loan central that season. Suggested that Derek really wasn’t Dave’s man.

We’ve had few successful loanees. Nature of the system or are we particularly bad at it…

His Dad, the striker David Hirst, was a great striker, back in the day, but whose career was finished early due to injury.

I never saw the Bulgaria v Ireland game last night but I read that Mitov got subbed off at half time injured?

Hes a good goalkeeper but he seems to get injured a lot, I think we probably need a better backup keeper for next season.

Scotland deservedly humped 3 zip. Surely the end for Ralston and Hanley. Conway looks like he's only good enough for the Championship, if that, and Hirst is just a big lump, surely we could get a Scottish big lump to be equally ineffective...

I'm glad I've never been into the international fitba. Enough bad times following the dons without adding to my misery.

Glad it's over and proper fitbs can resume.

I read an interview with Clarke over the weekend where he was asked if he should be playing Hanley and Ralston because they arent playing for their clubs.

He smugly said that they have done well for him in the past and they should be able to play 90 minutes for us because they train all week with their clubs.

Was also asked about Christie playing in a deeper midfield position for Bournemouth this season and doing well, his response was he still sees Christie as a wide player for us because hes always played there for us.

I thought Kenny McLean was a good player for Aberdeen but keeping him in the team and dropping Lewis Ferguson was a terrible decision.

Clarke is a typical Scottish dinosaur who is too loyal to players that have done well for him in the past, he should have been sacked after the Euros but the sfa wont do that unfortunately.
