Without even looking it up I fail to understand how anyone can be smug when countries such as Myanmar, Yemen, Mali, Ethiopia, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Ukraine, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Chad and of course Palestine are all involved in some sort of armed conflict that is killing millions of human beings.

    World Happiness my arse.
You mention these places and that people are smug etc., however, there are at least 8 of those areas where British troops are actively involved in trying to make things better for human beings who live in those areas. Whilst you are saying that people are very smug etc., there are quite a number of British families who are far from smug because they have relatives involved in trying to establish peace, even if it is not widely known and, in the main, never admitted by our hierarchy ----for obvious reasons!

?The first thing we do, let?s kill all the lawyers.?

Donald Trump?s crusade against his opponent?s lawyers represents a new front in his war on the rule of law.

In a series of moves that seem culled from the authoritarian playbooks of Tayyip Erdoğan, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orb?n abroad, and that harken back to the dark days of McCarthyism and the second Red Scare here at home, Trump has slapped three prominent private law firms with longstanding ties to the Democratic Party with executive orders designed to impose crippling sanctions on their operations. The orders charge the law offices with ?weaponizing the judicial process? against Trump, and call for terminating their federal contracts; suspending the security clearances of at least some of their attorneys; and limiting their access to federal government buildings, presumably including courtrooms.
It's a war on lawfare, not the rule of law, the fact that a district judge can dictate the foreign policy of the USA is simply laughable, and is quite rightly being challenged. The Dems are facilitating the legal challenges to Trump's EOs through three particular law firms, each having as you say, 'long standing ties to the Democratic Party', so naturally a Republican government is going to withdraw their security clearance, they are not part of government, what do they need security clearance for ? I believe they've even withdraw Biden's as government has nowt to do with him any more, not that it had much to with him anyway in the last four years. Has anyone ascertained yet just who was running the USA while Biden rambled and sucked his thumb ?

Probably the same lot that are manipulating Trump -----those with unbound wealth. It is the only way that Trump can survive after his bankruptcies etc.

All judges are sworn to uphold the Constitution. It is their duty to prevent abuses of the law directed against the Constitution. No one is supposed to be above the law not even presidents, as a few have found out to their cost. The judge is doing his duty, all power to him.
The First Amendment (freedom of speech) is under attack to a degree not seen since Macarthy, and America is facing government by
presidential order. The insinuation that lawyers who are democrats are not to be trusted or are liars just because they don't agree with DT is
ridiculous. Only republicans can voice honest dissent! What baloney.

My guess is that this is the only leverage they have. Whether or not it is true that the bombing would stop, makes no difference to fact that the atrocities carried out by Netanyahu can not be justified. Tens of thousands of women and children
blown to bits indiscriminately! Please don't give me the 'human shields excuse, long since debunked by Human Rights Watch,Amnesty International, and the Israeli group B'Tselem. I noticed that Netanyahu and the head if Mossad can't agree on their policy regarding Hamas. B??? wants to talk, Netanyahu can't see beyond more bombing and destruction, which is
understandable because if a quiet period breaks out he will be back in court in charges of corruption.
The indiscriminate nature of the Israeli attacks tells us a lot about the attitude of the Zionists towards the Palestinians. It's blatantly racist and goes back a long way. Begin(1982) " beasts on two legs" and there's tons of it. Dehumanize your opponent and every kind of atrocity becomes acceptable as Jews know through the Holocaust in WW2.
Balan, if you look up the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli settlers (Zionists)in the West Bank over the last year I think you will find it's about 1000. In addition, the Palestinians have had to put up with continual harassment, their animas killed, olive trees burnt, and so on. Look up also how many Israelis have been killed or injured by the tin pot rockets sent over from Gaza. For the ten year period from 2004 to 2014 it was 31. I have had trouble finding more recent figures.
People with balls will only put with this kind of mistreatment for so long. Netanyahu rejects any kind of two state solution so tragically I see no end to this situation in Gaza and the Westbank.
This is definitely my last comment on this topic, one cannot burry one's head in the sand but I joined the forum for laughs and football not politics. I've seen enough of politicians who can look straight into the camera and tell you a barefaced lie, that I hardly trust a one.

This is a political subject that was not posted on the proper thread mnrht, I love footy but sometimes watching footage of Palestinian kids being blown to bits by IDF fighter jets while seeking refuge in a tent gets in the way of being a Claret.

Whether lawyers agree with DT or not is irrelevant Tap, Trump was elected to run the country, lawyers are not, neither are District Court/Article 111 judges, they are nominated by the President, in the case of most of the current ones that was Biden, and were nominated specifically to frustrate a Republican president. Activist judges in other words.

Anyway, let's see what the Supreme Court has to say about it. If they don't sort it I'm sure Congress will.

Thanks for the reply Tap, but I'm still no wiser as to why Hamas will not release those innocent people. Maybe you hit the nail on the head with this comment.

The questions that the pro-Palestinian/ anti - Semitic brigade never answer is why it is ok for them to indiscriminately fire rockets into Israel with the aim to kill anyone who gets in the way (yes, women and children) and what exactly is Israel supposed to do?

Somehow it is ok to support a cause whose sole aim is not their freedom but to exterminate Jews?

How do supporters square that in their minds - unless they are anti - Semitic and want to iradicate Jews from the face of the earth?

If anyone is “scum” in all this tragedy, it is those people.
