I have had the experience of using electric night storage heaters and separately gas central heating.
In my opinion gas central heating is cheaper and far more controllable than electric night storage heaters.
That being said during the cold winter months our house was always warm due to the night storage heaters always being warm.
Our house on Islay has an oil fired central heating system but despite the house being very well insulated as it was built in 2005 the heat from
our oil fired central heating system is nowhere near as warm as a gas fired central heating system.
The daily standing charge for electricity is almost double the daily standing charge for gas.
