We should but doesn?t mean we will beat them at home.

Thank god the blunts have decided to wobble at this stage of the season. Maybe it?s the luck cycle evening out as they had big chunks of it up to this point of the season. I?m

Not quite the way I see our eventual outcome as using your 'entropy' of a random variable only quantifies the average level of uncertainty as your information stated is associated with the variables potential possible outcomes.

For me I see our fate via a 'shannon' sourced information initiative which is a basic quantity derived from the probability of a particular event occurring from a random variable.

For the run in predictions you always gotta allow for the quantifying level of 'surprise' of a particular outcome results wise.

Shannon/entropy is often used to measure the unpredictability of a teams performance which can be a valuable metric for coaches & analysts. So analysing our teams performance & unpredictability focusing on the locations of passes made during matches & the evolution of the organisation of each of our successful corresponding passing network completed thus far used - then we are defo going up, apparently. 👍

Such data collection is crucial in analysing football performance as analysts can identify patterns & trends that now can inform coaching decisions & player development far more efficiently.

Maybe AI should become our next PL coach then ? 😎

Any chance of that being translated into English that non-brain surgeons/nuclear scientists can understand?

It means you've as much chance of being promoted as I have of sh@gging Rachel Riley off countdown ! 🤣🤣🤣

    Much obliged Alf.😉

Win on Saturday which we should and if the results elsewhere go okay then big step to promotion. Would be nice to have a gap between us and both Burnley and Blades before they play each other

Shannon & entropy in simplistic terms measures the average amount of information or uncertainty associated with a random variable or a probability distribution. It essentially quantifies how much surprise or unpredictability there is in any system.

So shannon entropy is now a perfected measure of uncertainty or unpredictability that is applied in football to analyse various aspects of game dynamics, such as player movement, pass patterns & overall team competitiveness, thus providing insights for coaching analysis. Bielsa was/is a visionary of distinction of its use.

I used to attend matches working alongside others into evaluating performance level data, ensuring that customers could have the content needed from the teams & players performances of which many of my mates still do. Possibly in my genetics as my Dad was an actuary computer programmer in various industries including sports before jacking it all in to breathe the fresh air of life 24/7 in France.

Shannon entropy is used in various fields nowadays including sports information theory via data compression communication to quantify information content to fully understand the behavior of complex systems which is important for tactical analysis info.
Opta sports stats is one well known company for its work. 👍

On a personal level the shannon entropy concept was a life saver fo me too as its nowadays increasingly used in Mental Health research to quantify uncertainty, disorder & complexity in brain activity behavior, offering insights into mental disorders treatment to which I am still part of ongoing trials offered in Cambridge England.

At this stage in the season, I think the only "random variable" that is worth measuring is how many goals we allow in the last 5 games. The "uncertainty" associated with this random variable is dependent on Firpo, Bogle and Byram and whether they can stop the attacks from the wings as that seems to be where the goals might leak. I think up front James, Piroe, Solomon, Gnonto, can be depended on to put one or two in the back of the net.

We need a good dollop of John Smith?s ?ave it fighting spirit and we?ll be reet. Oh and Farke to realise the rules allow you to make subs before 65 minutes

At least we all feel a lot better after the mid week games. Just shows, nothing is predictable for any team, including us needless to say. Rather more hopeful for this Saturday but I have to say I do not like PNE. Their ?style? of playing football is not one Leeds tend to deal with easily.
