I have a bit of sympathy for Mr Maynard.
In my view, he is not up to the job or capable of getting us promoted, but he has been dealt a pretty rough hand and I think the brothers need to face their share of criticism for the situation (for the first time since they have owned the club). Frankly, I feel sorry for him.
He has, by hook or by crook, had his coaching team dismantled and not replaced; had several key players sold out from under him and not replaced adequately and is now effectively dealing with a squad of young men, who I believe do not respect him and are no longer playing for him, almost entirely alone.
Ultimately, he is the manager and takes responsibility for the results, but the players (and, to some extent, the ownership) have let him down over the past few weeks/months and have to take their share of the blame too.
Do we need better than SM? In my opinion yes, but if he does leave, he can depart with his head held relatively high.
