The one thing that encourages me about the Conner appointment is what Animal has eluded to and that is that Conner is no fool and the club do need him more than he needs them, I think the fact that there needs to be wholesale changes to the squad also makes the appointment favourable, he knows all the players inside out and is not starting the clear out with blind knowledge as would a HC appointed from outside plus of course he has a head start on the close season with this 10 game cameo , I also think that maybe one or two who were definitely leaving might have second thoughts that is if they have come to respect Conner , we will see , I certainly think it will be a revolving door this summer which will be turning frequently , I just hope that our recruitment policy has changed .

Connell , Philips and Keillor Dunn will be sold to create a transfer budget for Hourihane .

I believe the Orient game sealed many of the players fates for Hourihane .

We are in a new broom sweeps clean territory in my opinion .

The main thing is that we become more solid defensively and that's the starting point in my opinion and work from there .

We need to knock 30 goals off the conceded column whilst scoring as many as we've enjoyed .

That's the key to having any kind of success next season .
I take the point about raising working capital for the transfer market and we have very few players who are worth a fee. So the ones you highlight are candidates for moving on.

Of the rest, i would keep hold of Jalo unless a bid comes in that we cant refuse. Flavell has potential and Roberts brings experience but hes getting long in the tooth. The rest can go for me, I see no future with us for any of them.

    Any other opinions out there?

I'd agree with most of that Eths. The thing is, I'd expect that the capital raised by player sales this close season will not be spent on decent replacements. The money will go towards the 10m annual losses that the club must significantly reduce. We've seen that with the Mads and Kitching money already. God only knows the level of where we recruit from. We've seen league of Ireland players, French 2nd division players, non league players etc. How lower can we go? We might even manage to assemble a team that would struggle to beat Athersley Rec.

Relegation beckons in my opinion. What a mess, and to be honest, the board only have themselves to blame.

I'm only reading between the lines but I don't believe Hourihane would have taken the job without some assurances on playing budget .

The club have appointed him because he was once a very good player here and the team he captained was very successful and it's the only thing they have to create enough interest for fans to renew ST's , whether that translates to actual sales is another debate altogether .

However what we do know is that Hourihane wasn't appointed because of a new HC bounce , he wasn't appointed because the players look any better or a new system has worked .

If it was down to results and performances Hourihane wouldn't have got the gig .

That in itself tells us a story .

With the club wanting him more than Hourihane needs them that gave Hourihane an edge and whilst he's not daft enough to demand a 10 million pound budget a "what we raise is what you have" seems to me to be a compromise Hourihane was happy to accept .

Even these daft feckers aren't stupid enough to sell one of the most popular players we've had in recent times down the road and expect to get away with it when they are already about as popular as Josh Windass in the 120th minute .

I could be wrong mind .

I should have also said that the young uns coming through the academy like Bland should be retained as we dont know what they have to offer yet.

I hope Conor really boll*ked them after that awful match collapse on Friday.
But some are saying he's not that sort of manager/coach, and that he'll probably do things differently to what we're used to seeing.
Well, its going to be interesting that's for sure, but I do fear there might be some bad things along the way for him.
There's the chance of a relegation scrap of course, and by then, how many fans will have turned against him.
    Which does inevitably happen!. 😕
