I certainly believe that he needs some good people backing him up but he has done a reasonable job under difficult circumstances this season & is gradually gaining in experience. If there is a outstanding candidate that the owners have in mind then fair enough but if it's going to be another unknown lucky dip the old saying " be careful what you wish for" springs to mind. Exactly any experienced EFL manager we get will probably have more bad spells than probably good on their CV else they wouldn?t be applying for jobs in L2.

I think a lot of fans perception of SM was made at the start, part time NL coach, bt engineer regardless of keeping Wealdstone in the league being only one of 2 or 3 part time teams in the league.

Same with IB, PE teacher regardless that he had done some good jobs in Scandinavia.

LW had no history of being a BT engineer or PE teacher and his only previous senior management role was at Swindon which he oversaw them being relegated.

I think the fact he came over more bullish got fans onside and after a slow start we started winning in a fairly poor league and people were then totally behind him. Fast forward his career and Swansea fans say he only won stuff in the NL, out of his depth and couldn?t motive anyone.

Not sure why my point is 😂, but merely an observation I?ve been thing about the last couple of days😂

This is it. There's bugger-all chance SM was the most experienced manager they could hire. The most experienced candidate available would be some washed-up has been with a tactical mind from the 90's who hasn't won anything in a decade. But experience isn't the only metric they would've been going for.

In fact I would guess the main metric they were looking for is overachievement. As you point out, LW and IB weren't very experienced. But they were (IMO) excellent and in both cases did well enough with us that they were poached by teams at higher levels.

You know who had plenty of experience when we hired him? Ardley. Including a promotion from L2. That's worth pondering, in my opinion.
