I think you live in Australia. If you lived over here and went to most of the home games your opinion might be different.

Weve generally been pretty awful at home, and that I imagine is what most people are basing their opinion on.

To give him his due, away games have been much better, but nothing different from what youd expect from a team chasing promotion.

Why are our home performances lacking? You do better at home than away, usually because the crowd is with you. Is the home crowd not with the team?

I don?t think as a home support that we are overly vocal? some think that having 10k rock up should be enough for the players. There are games when the home support is flat - and the performance follows. The expectation of some is that the players should change that? I disagree.
We will all be here for as long as we breathe? we have that emotional attachment to the club that 99% of players won?t have, regardless Of what players say. We are the ones that will continue to support through thick and thin? apart from the financial input, I feel we have a responsibility to help push the players, the club and management with our unwavering support? somewhere over the last 20 years that?s been lost? it?s not just at Notts, we see it everywhere.
I?ve just watched Grant McCanns interview (from yesterday) and he banged on about telling the players to not listen to the noise? believe in what I?m asking you to do. Don?t listen to those who say you?re not good enough etc?.

Not that it?s a popular opinion but I do feel as a support we have a responsibility for making ML a great place for our team to play, and I don?t think that?s happened this season.

However losing DC and injuries to our best players this season. We?ve still got to the play offs and theoretically we can still get autos. We?ve improved on last years position. We can only play the teams in this league this year.

He has probably done enough to be here for another year.

I think it?s telling that players like JJ signed a contract extension and that Didzy would literally run through brick walls for us. This has to be in part due to SM.
Both have played at higher levels with some very experienced managers.

Hard agree on that. If we want to see what passionate home support looks like, unfortunately we only need to look at our neighbours across the river. They?ve turned the Temple of Sin into a tough place for the opposition through their constant backing of the team.

I?d love Meadow Lane to be rocking for 90 minutes on Saturday, but those days are very rare. I?ll be doing my bit in the Pavis Stand, even if it does annoy the folks around me.

Absolutely this.
We don't compare as a home support to those across the river.
It's in us for sure, if we could harvest the animosity directed at Dan Crowley and MK Dons and turn that energy into vocal support every other week I'm convinced we would get some extra points each season.

The away support is consistently good, more of us need to get vocal and keep it positive, whatever the circumstances. COYP

I'd say it's the other way around. The support is invariably good to start with, but when mainly all we see is backward and sideways passing in our own half that passion soon fades.

I have always found this a really interesting argument - do the crowd get the players going? Or do the players get the crowd going? (In response to the initial comments - I do think ML can be quiet at times).

I 10000000% understand and agree that a loud, consistent and positive crowd is of great support for the players but I am firmly of the opinion that it is not the fans responsibility to get the team going, or make them put a performance in.

A professional football team should be doing this week in, week out without the influence from fans. That professional pride, drive, motivation and everything else should be there whether ML is rocking, silent or empty.

Notts at home have not hit the heights we expect, but I do not think for a second the players are not filled with pride, passion, desire, professionalism etc etc we all demand.

The fans obviously help when they are loud, but it is not our responsibility to make them perform. Again, I understand the emotional attachment we have with Notts and to an extent agree that football is not like the majority of transactional entertainment industries, but simply put:

Should people paying to watch people being paid to do their job be responsible for their output? No. Certainly not responsible.

I agree with this in principle, but at the same time I think... they're kids. Our oldest player is in his early 30s and the rest are all in their 20s. 20-28yo professionals in most fields really do need encouragement from their elders to hit their stride.

And hell, if I had 10,000 (mostly much older) people grumbling at me (literally) when I missed a pass, I'd bet money the next pass it harder to make.

That said, obviously I don't attend matches at all and am not in a position to criticise anyone who does.
