Like I said in my previous, longer post, I like Maynards underlying approach; dominate the ball home and away. We have generally defended well this season and we generally create a fair amount of chances per game. You do not throw that together. Thats coached. Without raking through the stats, I am more than happy to call Maynard a good coach.

Of course we have been utter toilet in some games, but a fair chunk of games you would put down as ?if we take our chance we win that.?

No doubt we have dropped off in the last three months, especially at home. Clearly, he has room to improve and things to learn. Yesterday was thoroughly disappointing, but Whitaker being outmuscled and Jones pulling out of a tackle cost us both goals.

Maynard is not Pep, but he also is not the worst appointment in football history. He has spent half a season with a depleted backroom staff and one of his most creative forces was not adequately replaced.

I think a voice or two from outside the Radar bubble would do him the world of good.

A good coach does not lose 14 games at home in 18 months... As for dominating games at home, It says it all when we have 70% possession with just 2 or 3 shots on goal.. Thats been the trend all season. A good coach would have identified the problem and done something about it. Not us, he just blurts on about the players hurting bla bla bla.

I accept he might be a 'good' coach if you go by the coaching manual alone. If he took an exam on coaching by the book I don't doubt he would pass. He's just not an inspirational or motivational coach. He's methodical and thorough, but something is lacking. He's definitely not the worst we've had, but I've never seen him as a winner.
