    Potential offside rule changes

Apparently they're going to trial a new interpretation wherby if any part of the attacker is onside, then the player is onside.

Fantastic if this change is made. Onviously, a line has to be drawn somewhere but the law as it stands is an absolute joke, Ludicrous that it ever even got to the stage where a toe can get a goal disallowed but here we are.

First positive I've heard from FIFA in a long time.

    Thoughts?

Not sure I understand this. Will the line still be drawn at the furthest back part of the second defender? Then if any part of the attacker is onside then there is no foul?
If so, there will still be tight calls but it?ll mean thar attackers can push up more and test the offside line more aggressively????

It's been instigated by Arsene Wemger and I think he wants 'daylight' between the defender amd the attacker.

And yes, it will redress the balance away from the advantage lying with the defender.

Ah, I see. This should make a big difference and a lot more goals? Again though, you can still be off side by an inch. However, if the technology is accurate and, more importantly, very fast then that doesnt matter. That?s where the real problem lies today, for me.

Great news if it comes through as Wenger seems to want.

It all looks like positive thinking for a change.

    What's the new rule?

It returning to the original rule. It' used to be 'Daylight / a gap' between defender and attacker.

With the advantage going to the attacker. When it's being revied 1,000 times and burning 4 mins of game time, it's utter nonsense.

The over analysis is the issue. A quick look i don't mind, but when they're trying to justify ruling goals out I take exception.

So after 2 decades of making the rules worse they've realised that the original rule, based on logic was the best.

IFAB are a bunch of clowns.

The entire cadre of crooks who are positions of authority in the governing bodies of football, FIFA, UEFA, FA, EPL, IFAB, PGMOL, etc are all incompetent muppets.

    They are, Raga.

Interferring just because they want to justify their own existence. They think change is progress so they look around for something to 'fix'.

    Arseholes.
