I acknowledge the difficulties with the squad and back room staff this season but we aren?t winning, playing exciting football, and are just generally passive and one dimensional, and that sits on the coaches shoulders. He hasn?t tried anything different or appear to have any motivational spark to ignite the players or fans alike.

Today was the prime example. 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes to go to save our season and we did absolutely nothing different. I don?t think he is necessarily stubborn, but just not experienced or good enough to manage a club of our size.

What is even more frustrating that the ending to this season has seemed so glaringly obvious for the last few months and nothing has changed, in fact it has gotten worse. I felt no nerves or excitement in the build up these last few games because I felt I knew exactly what would happen and how we would play, and unfortunately that?s exactly how it has panned out.

It is difficult to see a scenario now where we go into next season where more than a handful of people would be happy to see SM in the dugout.
totally sums up where I'm at too.

We invested well in defence, so there are measurable improvements on last season if you go looking for them. Overall though, the quality of our football has just tanked.

We COULD have won the first playoff leg, but were gamed out by the better coach. Today was just a gelatinous blob. Zero personality to Maynard's Notts. Didzy and Abbott just muddy the waters over the season, because they've been able to perform without coaching. When you need a coach (or a vibrant leader on the pitch) to spark a comeback like today, the whole thing just flubs in the grass, like today.

eta: I remember wondering what Maynard's version of the Bros Notts identity was going to look like after such a strong leader as Williams. And the answer is style-less, identity-less, beige.

Maynard can't put his boots on. Didzy is a massive miss.

He?s got to go unfortunately for him and I wish him well. I think post xmas Jatta was knackered, Crowley gone and none of the new signings doing anything, harsh hand but I just think another manager would have got us into the top 3 but we can?t fully blame him, a lot of the players are just not good enough.

I said on another thread that this coming close season will be a true test of the owners ambitions. A repeat of the player depth shortcomings this season (and to a certain degree last season as well) cannot be allowed to happen again or they will lose a large slice of credibility.
As for the calls for LW to be reappointed? Yer havin a laugh!

I've been thinking exactly the same.
Barring a major clear-out and rebuild, (manager included), I dread to think where we could end up next season? Shades of a repeat of what happened after the 2017-18 season? Or am I overreacting because of our pish poor end to this season?

We aren't in the same position as last time. Next season we'll still have a great defence and keeper

Things won't be that bad but we do need a bit of a rethink. We need more depth to the squad and people need to accept injuries will happen. We also need to try harder in the Cup's as the owners have been droning on about us being sustainable - well winning cup matches and having a cup run would help.

I'm really concerned you could be right. I'm not a Maynard "hater" because I have never doubted his commitment to the job, but I am utterly convinced that if he stays our only direction will be downwards.
