    It was the wrong appointment
    Hopefully we've learnt from it
But SM is still a nice guy and was popular with the players and staff even though they could see his shortcomings

We should all remember this, it's the most important thing in life, to be honest and true to others
His biggest problem was lack of experience in my opinion, which made him fearful to change things
In the grand scheme of things we should all appreciate that. He should be cut some slack with all that's been going on; add to that his first fully pro appointment; the team he brought with him probably undermining him for their (his) (?) own ends; players being sold and lesser players coming in; injuries to key players; for the first time working with players like DM, JJ, DC; crowd at times very vocal in a negative way and everything else. I am convinced there is a good manager developing in there and in time I think we will see that but the system the Bros have in place can't possibly make it easy to learn on the job. Should he go? If we recruit this close season like we have done in the last year (or worse) then yes he should go and get an ego with a big mouth in, but that's not going to happen. IF he goes the Bros will just rinse and repeat.

One thing I am certain of though is the Bros will not be pushed into anything we say.

He does come across as a decent man but we all have to play the cards we are dealt. His inexperience and lack of self confidence are evident in that he either didn't know how to change things, or was afraid too. I've said this on other threads, if you make left field appointments with inexperienced and frankly unqualified people, it is more than likely to fail. It has failed. Not that I blame Maynard. It is those that appointed him who are to blame.
Some will argue we haven't failed finishing 6th. I would disagree hugely. This league was there for the taking irrespective of injuries, internal issues etc and we blew it.
There is a danger of The Bros being "too clever"!

Why did you keep referring to him in the past tense? Do you know something we don't?

Ones on here kept saying the same about Ardley" A very nice man" Unfortunately that does win games.
Remember SM was a recommendation of LW.
Maybe he should be offered a job within the club as they fcuked up

Yes, we don't have quite enough promotion-level players, but I don't think Walsall, Bradford etc have either. It's about getting the most out of the resources you have.

SM had enough resources to NOT go on the long, disastrous runs in both seasons that saw us plummet from prime positions.
In key matches like home to Barrow, Cheltenham etc, away at Colchester we still had the players to get something out of those incredibly important matches. Choking at times like that is a terrible sign. If it were amateur senior ladies bowls then no problem, but at high pro-level football you have to demonstrate that you can perform when the going get's tough and the chips are down. We've consistently shown exactly the opposite.
I agree on home form and I was more concerned when teams weren?t parking the bus we still lost. I think there?s been some great away performances but they dropped off. I do wonder if some of it?s been down to fatigue and there?s a few players that haven?t had any sort of a rest because of injuries.

Some players just haven?t been up to it all, said all season we were weak at 10s and WBs and then drop offs in Palmer and Jatta which I thinks down to Palmer playing so much after injury and Jatta having no rest in a very physical league playing his first full season.

I really hope we don?t sack him without a replacement lined up, I can?t see LW or Buckingham coming unless we offer them a very good wage and promises of very decent backing, maybe LW can be tempted with the emotional connection.

I'm hoping this wait is the bros lining up the next boss to announce soon after the sacking of SM.

I'd like to think SM was told soon after the play off defeat and has packed his bags already.

    Let's see...

What job should he be offered?? He was appointed to do a job he's struggled with!! Unless we need the internet and phone lines repairing he needs to be on his way with our thanks for his efforts.

Like he'd even accept another job within the club anyway.
