It is, of course, a governmental decision. Who else's would it be?

Personally I think defending against a few rubber boats using military vessels and their accompanying expensively-trained personnel would be a massive (and massively expensive) example of overkill (for want of a better word!). Far better to beef up Border Force and equip, train and man it better, with stronger powers to boot IMO.
