Awful thing to happen and I'm sure everyone wishes all involved a speedy recovery.

Call me suspicious though, The police very quickly announced it was a 53-year-old white, British male.
What a pity they weren't this quick to pass information along following the Southport outrage.

Stupid and tasteless post. How about, the police just wanted to calm things down as quickly as possible by reassuring people that there was no element of ‘terrorism’ before people like you - or at least those you defend - could start making bogus claims and stirring stuff up.
They can’t do right for doing wrong in your world can they?
Seems to me, from what little we know, that the police acted very properly and that you’re just trying to make political capital out of a tragic event…again!

SAYS YOU. I hope this is now the precedent. The police in the last 12 months have made a massive rod for their own backs in many ways, as has the justice system.

Both together have continued to infuriate the general public, the latest being the Lucy Connolly for a bad taste tweet she posted, quickly deleted and told folks not to do anything stupid, She got 31 months even after pleading guilty. Her review was rejected by the same judge, who actually reduced the sentences of Lord Nazir Ahmed convicted of abusing 2 children and got 5 years 6 months, yet this plank reduced it to 2 years and 6 months. Also Anthony Marsh,an HIV carrier who revelled in raping underage boys, had his life conviction quashed to 12 years.
Yet cause a political problem to a current government and you are the worst of the worst.

What I am asking for, is continuity and less of the political bull**** being sprayed by the government/police/judiciary

Nothing hypocritical whatsoever.

In the case of NFFC you have a professional journalist - rightly or wrongly - offering a judgement and being banned and prevented from doing his job on the basis of someone taking exception to that comment.

In the case of your comment, you have a contributor to this forum - with a well earned reputation for bigotry - seeking, yet again, to make political capital out of other people’s misfortune and misery.

I don’t deny your right to criticise but I reserve mine to respond by suggesting that you are talking ill informed, sh1t stirring bollux…again.

Indeed you should RA, seems some people will complain whatever happens. Its clear the Police learned from the disgusting behaviour of people cut to the same cloth as our red friend.

Tempting as it is to respond, unless like AF you identify a kindred spirit in the guy and look to him to back you up when either you or I demolish AF's ill informed posts, there is no point in engaging with this guy.

I’m sure we all have our own suspicions about what happened, but as you say, the truth needs to be told and will probably only come out in court. Until then the police are limited in what they can say and we would all be wise to reserve judgement and just wish those injured a full recovery.

On the colour and ethnicity point…don’t you think the fact that there are fears the reaction would have been worse had it been an Asian or Black suspected perpetrator than a white one possibly tells its own story?

Except that previously the practice has always been to divulge minimal information about an alleged perpetrator irrespective of their ethnicity, usually just gender and age. So unless your a conspiracy theorist, prejudiced or looking to stir up racial hatred there is no "acid test"! Plus, and I get this might be a bit sophisticated for you to understand, there may be valid reasons in certain cases why the ethnicity of a person isn't divulged.

If you want tasteless, it's my bet they will all be crying and whining about the police involvement, and not accepting fan blame, for the next 25 years and through several enquiries. Never our fault.
