On paper this is an encouraging signing. He?s young but has already proven himself at this level (albeit for only half a season).

Isn?t it about time we heard from the new head of football, Roberto Gagliardi, so we can learn about his vision/philosophy? Or have I missed an interview he?s given since joining the club?

I think his comments on Dennis today are the first words we've heard from RG...

"Head of Football Roberto Gagliardi said: ?While Matthew?s goals return and overall performances at Carlisle prove he is more than capable of making an immediate impact at this level, we?re very excited about his potential to improve across the duration of his contract.

?Importantly, he has very strong natural attributes in terms of his pace, power and stature ? and he had a really strong grounding as a young player in two top academies.

?Matthew hasn?t always been deployed as an out-and-out striker and we definitely feel he can cover various attacking positions within our system.

Some of the wording in the statement is really positive particularly regarding the pace, power and stature part. If Dennis can bring some of that in attack and midfield along with goals then this will bode well going forward.
