Will there ever come a point when people realise they look like idiots when they criticise the signing of a young player on the basis that we need experience?
Exactly the same was said about Abbott last season by many on here. Would anyone now rather we had not taken Abbott on loan and instead given the vastly experienced John Bostock an extra year?
Young/Old makes zero difference. It?s how good they are and how we get the best out of them.
Yeah, our best loan signings in the past 10ish years have been from Villa, Celtic,,Forest and Spurs rather than the likes of league 1 Huddersfield, in fact Im struggling to think of any loans at all that have worked from 1 league above us. Nothing at all wrong with looking at the pedigree of a loan when speculating on whether it will work or not.
Nevertheless good luck to the lad, after the success of George Abbot I was looking forward to seeing more players from the top prem teams. Hopefully we will still get them.
It's alright getting on a high horse but outfield loan players (apart from GA) haven't exactly set the place on fire with their input these last couple of seasons. You get one shot at a player coming in and if he works then great, if he doesn't work then it's a place that could have been used better. Now obviously yer actual signings could be about to be declared but I think a loan player so early in the piece could easily throw a few wobblers amongst the supporters.
Having said that it is too early to be critical of a L1 player that appears well regarded.
