Not the most exciting appointment, but it sounds like he has spent years earning his stripes so I'd get behind him. Everyone has to start somewhere and he has a good rep as a coach by all accounts.
I think theyd be insane to make Tom Shaw head coach. Nothing on his record to make anyone think he would be successful, another shot in the dark just as Maynard was. In fact his cv is worse than Maynards.

It would be a huge gamble - he’s currently one of two assistant head coaches at Lincoln and has nothing on his CV comparable to managing a big L2 club.

LWs CV wasn?t amazing, assistant manager roles and a relegation when he was a manager.

I don?t mind us going for an unknown but the guy has to jump out at them as a total leader and decent coach and have plenty of research and references with it, which I think was the case with LW.

The issue SM had was he came from a part time club, was a full time BT engineer and looked like a rabbit in headlights sometimes in the interviews and it?s all about perception and therefore was on a hiding to nothing with a lot of fans early doors.

He's not talking rubbish at all. If the players are on holiday there is a thousand and one things the new bloke can do. He can spend every day reviewing every match from last season for a start.

There are too many people on here showing disrespect to other posters.

Having said that, I would rather we took our time than appoint a bad coach. I think the view of the self-appointed top Notts fans on here is now that anyone will do and we should still be grateful, but that didn't work out with Maynard.

What the self-opinionated blobs don't realise they also talk crap at times (we all do, occasionally!).

It sounds like the new team is already in the building, we just haven't announced it yet

Think you?re right with them saying announcing their new coaching team else it?s not a good look if they haven?t signed and there?s still no news say in a weeks time. I?m going to go for tomorrow, was confident it would be this week.

They are certainty experts in keeping it secret till they?re announced, no one has a clue, again.

You still wouldn’t be getting to know the players tho would you?
You see that in person. What are they like around the club? In the changing room? Are they leaders? Good characters? Do they have issues? Family? All that *******s that can’t be seen from watching you tube.
We’ve watched Notts all season and none of us know any of this so what’s a few clips gonna show? Player can run, can pass, can cross.
So no, IMO you can’t get to know your players until you see them in the flesh and speak with them.

Are there any other clubs who operate with a management team of coaches headed by an academic?
I suppose Wenger might have been looked at that way at the start with Arsenal
