Each year will be an evolution of the last, with a little more quality added each time, along with a HC who can implement that way of playing.

Yet all I keep seeing is ?need an experienced manager?, ?needs to control recruitment?. Didn?t that way lead us into the National League eventually, with bloated squads of 3 or 4 different managers players, that the next manager through the door didn?t want?

I get the new setup isn?t the old fashioned way everyone is used to, but it?s more than refreshing for me, to see that a plan is in place, the players and HC all follow a playing style, gates are considerably up, post the Hardy/Trew era and before. Moneys being invested in the club, players being bought in for a fee, players are leaving for a fee in excess of what we bought them for. Let?s keep the momentum going!
Because we get fed up of being beaten by most of the other top teams with more established managers. Beating low hanging fruit results in a good season, beating your peers results in a championship fight or at worse, winning play-offs.

Not sure what to make about the lack of movement other than nobody has a clue, and people have stopped speculating.
If it was just Williams or Alves I'd agree - the fact it's been suspended for a few days and it's both of them I suspect it's not nothing. Bookies don't miss an opportunity to make a few quid.

Williams for home matches, Alves for away?

I am surprised that people think we will be paying championship wages to the next head coach. If that's the case then the list of applicants will be very long.

In the last two seasons the top 3 teams had either recently spent time in league one or had a massively inflated budget for the level, theyve been promoted because of the quality of player not just the fact they had 'established' managers.

Infact we've routinely dispatched 'established' managers througout our time in this league: Artell, Hughes, Lindsay, Flynn, Alexander, Adkins, Adams. All experienced, most won promotion but all lost to Notts (some multiple times).

You are getting 'established' managers confused with 'strong squads'.

I thought today might have been the day but was very wrong. This is getting a little silly now to be honest. We've sacked someone without actually having a clue as to who would replace him evidently, seems a bit of a weird step from the usually clinical brothers

The announcement is obviously bigger than just a head coach, with the wording of the statement I'd say it's something that flies in the face of the traditional which is why they've lubed us up with the paragraph regarding the restructure.

Typically this would be moving away from the all encompassing 'Manager' role aka your Ferguson who controls everything to a Head Coach and DoF model. We already have that and they obviously aren't reverting to the traditional manager model.

What this entails is anyone's guess. We don't have enough players to warrant a B team which leaves me leaning towards there either being no recognised head coach or multiple.

I'd rather fail trying to be innovative than fail on the merry-go-round of players on the way down with the same old names circulating whenever a manager role becomes available so I'm cautiously excited.

Lovely bloke or not it can't be anymore underwhelming than appointing the Wealdstone head coach after our most exciting one in years gets poached by a Championship club.

It's like waiting to open a present on Christmas but not knowing when Christmas is.

I was also thinking maybe today would be the day as well. There could well be a number of reasons it’s taking time especially if there are two or three coaching staff to negotiate with for example. Also if any of the coaches have been working last season or were involved in playoff campaigns with other clubs, then they may not have been able to go on holiday until the end of last month. Everyone is fully entitled to a holiday and rest before stepping into a new job role. If any are coming from abroad visas may have had to be put in place.

I’d sooner the club take their time and find the right person and if that means waiting for decisions on other clubs coaches appointments for example or other movements in the football world so be it.

There are still a couple of weeks before players contracts officially end pre-season starts as well.

Who ever or whatever the plan is it needs to be sorted soon , I?m not into panic mode but we are already half way into June I know holiday etc can hold things up but if they are planning a complete re set on the management/ coaching profile it needs to be sorted soon. Players will need time to adjust and the new coaching team need time to not only settle into new accommodation and living, but be able to assess the current squad and what?s needed ( at least 5 quality established players ) imo for midfield and attack. Before we know it July will be here and we will be a disorganised squad with no depth and asking questions to what is the system!!

There is nothing wrong with being innovative but things like ?multiple? head coaches or coaches is a recipe for failure.

You can only ever have one boss imo as if we have a group of 3 who gets the final call and then who is responsible for poor results ?

Football is a simple sport really so keep it simple 11 players on the pitch and one head coach/manager is the starting point.
