What a brilliant band they were. An inspiration to many. Grew up with their music. RIP Brian & thank you for the songs.

One of my favourites written by Brian and also Tony Asher, with the unmistakable tones of the great Carl Wilson:

Weather permitting I used to drive up the A1 to Rotherham with the top down, listening to the BBs at full volume, leaving perfect harmonies in my wake. Apart from my contribution.

    The BBs define summer music.

Great memories Brian; love you. Thank you.

    Late adding to this.

The Beach Boys, who doesn't know of them? If you ever get the chance to see the movie that was released not long ago give a view.

Wilson's Father totally dominated their early days until one day they stood up to him and told him to move aside they had other ideas.

The real Beach Boys sound came to be and were phenomenal all over the globe for many years. Happy times, happy sounds always lifted the spirits and reminded us all of those warm balmy summer days/nights.

Yes indeed a great music man. RIP Brian Wilson, now take that well earned rest.

Immediately thought of you when I heard the news, Lincs.

Horrible cliche but he had a good innings considering his lifestyle and left us this amazing legacy which I think will live on in the musical pantheon with all the greats down the centuries.

I am thinking of making the six hour trip down to Hawthorne in the LA suburbs when things have quietened down a bit and take a moment at the Beach Boys Monument that was erected on the site of the Wilson house. I've been there a couple of times before and you really get to feel the atmosphere that must have existed when they started out. Hawthorne and their neighborhood hasn't changed a great deal and when you drive the streets of the town and go past Hawthorne high school, the songs seem to come alive...

I wish I could take that journey with you CT. You are right regarding his longevity considering his early lifestyle. Just watched an Al Jardine interview on YouTube and he was surprised by the news as he had visited him quite recently and he didn't think he was close to dying at that time . That's all the Wilsons departed now
