I wish Kouyar all the very best and hope he proves me wrong...but would MKDongs, Walsall, Bristol Rovers or Chesterfield have made this signing? Absolutely not. Bringing someone in so we get games postponed during internationals is a very weak argument.
Not the Top 20 is a podcast by two blokes who have quite a lot of in depth football knowledge about all clubs below the Premier League.

It's a bit weird releasing someone like Austin, who has proven to be adequate and reliable across a number of different positions at this level, and then sign a player with this profile. If Austin isn't good enough to move the club forward (which despite his qualities, I agree that he isn't), why are we signing players released by other NL teams?

I'd get it if he were 19, but at 27, how much is he likely to improve? If we want to get promoted, we need players good enough to play in L1.

I don't want to write the guy off before he's kicked a ball, but this sort of signing is just so Notts. A sort of gamble.

Wow! That is quite some fallout from an admittedly uninspiring and a little bizarre looking signing.

Talk of leaving the division the wrong way is some leap in my books. After all it is mid June so far too early to draw conclusions on our summer transfer business.

So far signings from Huddersfield, Blackpool/Wigan, Carlisle and York/Kidderminster.

The bottom line is what happens on the football pitch. They didn't purchase the nest or paddles courts. They took on a football club. That's what everybody sees, looks for. Do they buy cheap beer for the nest or cheap Chinese rackets for the paddle courts? Yes a nice side project but on the pitch is what counts Majority of the fan base not bothered about them. No point having the nest & the fan base down at home games
If you?re going to sell your best players & replace with cheap options & results dip, fans are going to start to voice their concern at the owners.

Not untouchable but they have done a very impressive job to date.

When you say the owners did not purchase the Nest or Paddle courts, then who did?

He means they purchased the football club first and then a few years later have chosen to invest in Padel courts and then the Nest.

    Right, yes they did.

With Padel being the fastest growing sport in the UK it was a no brainer to build the facility especially especially when it was only used for car parking behind the Kop.

When the industrial unit directly behind the Derek Pavis became available to purchase if you own the adjacent football club you just buy it. Don?t even think about. Huge marriage value with that purchase and improves the match day experience for fans just like the improved F&B outlets for people in The Kop.

I have not seen the numbers but I would to see the P&Ls for both

Using the land/building was a no-brainer really and the costs involved must be very close to be recouped if not already achieved. I don't think money has been diverted from players budgets to infrastructure, we have a budget for the season and no matter what, we stay within that budget (negative IMO when for the price of a couple of pints we could be in L1 now (pints was a joke)).

He will be nothing other than a bench warmer for the better signings that we shall hopefully soon be signing..
