I predicted 20th last season (based on zero belief in Maynard) so I don’t want to be so far out again, but I fear you might be right - lower end, unless 2 or 3 first teamers can be brought in asap. The squad as it currently stands is well short of promotion challengers

Think we are going to struggle. All we needed was a couple of tweeks. Our best players have gone. In my eyes not been replaced like for like. People say give him 10 games or so before deciding on the Coach. 10 games far too many, that is a quarter of the season gone & from past experience, the way you tend to start the 1st few games tends to say how your season is going to go

All true IP, but with Roos and a couple to come, we shouldn't be struggling near the bottom.

Crazy to consider job security for MP before a competitive ball's been kicked. They/we have to give him time.

I'd guess the threshold for him is just 'in touch with the play-offs/not being in the relegation mix', but the coaches market in October is different to the one in June, maybe still including a certain Mr. Williams, so MP better meet that modest threshold.

We desperately need another proven striker. If Dennis gets injured we are in the sh*t. As for Jatta, i cant seem him being at the club much longer, his agent will make sure of that..

No arguments on the cover and numbers, Durham. I'd be amazed if we don't sign a CF or ACM, maybe both, in the next 7 days.

Jatta could be this season's Crowley. But the Club and the Bros are no pushovers, they've shown that they can say no and sell on their terms as with Crowley, or turn away money when the situation calls for it by keeping Ruben and Wootton.

Hopefully even Jatta and his agent can see that his value has dipped since the start of the year but can be restored. The rumoured offers are not the ones that were coming at the start of the year and that will be contract value as well as fee. It's in the interest of both parties to try to boost up the value again. We also need time to settle on the 2 15+ goal contributors you need for a promotion challenge - I don't think the club can gamble on Dennis, Traore or whoever else they can bring in at this late stage.

No name unfortunately, but a few little whispers going round this morning that a forward has been signed.

His name is Jayden Luker apparently. Can play in the forward positions or as a midfielder. Sounds like our type of signing.

Keanan Bennetts has signed a one-year contract at Meadow Lane following a successful trial.

The 26-year-old, who plays primarily as a wing back but is also comfortable as an attacking midfielder or winger, returns to England having spent several seasons in the upper echelons of German and Austrian football.

Director of Football Roberto Gagliardi said: ?We?re very pleased to secure Keanan?s services having had the chance to work closely with him during his trial period.

?Keanan has a mixture of everything you look for in an attack-minded wing-back, most notably his pace, power and strength - attributes we?ve been keen to add to the squad this summer.

?He combines those assets with being a strong dribbler with plenty of flair, making him an exciting player to watch, and he?s equally adept in combination play which means he?s able to hurt defences in a number of ways.?

Bennetts emerged as one of Tottenham Hotspur?s most exciting prospects, gaining youth caps for Germany and England before being sold to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in 2018.

Having continued his development with his new club?s second team, Bennetts was given his top-flight debut as a late substitute against Wolfsburg before making 30 appearances in League One on loan at Ipswich Town during the 2020-21 season.

He continued his progress with Bundesliga minutes against Bayern Munich, Union Berlin, Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt on his return to Monchengladbach, before completing a move to SV Darmstadt and playing a role in their 2022-23 promotion to the German top flight.

Bennetts then continued his journey in Bundesliga II with what proved to be an injury-hampered spell with Wehen Wiesbarden, before bouncing back with some impressive performances for SK Klagenfurt in the Austrian top flight last season.
