My thoughts on things.
With the constant Fraudulence of the paid shill Romano and his ilk. The once joys of exciting Transfer windows is long gone. Replaced by long arduous grind of ***breaking***Exclusives*** BS
All the fun has been sucked out of the off season.
What Eddie has achieved since joining. Attracting the likes of Bruno, Tonali & Isak, Botman etc. Proves the club and team can get things done when they have a negoitator/closer on team. Not since Amanda left have we had that in position. Either Eales' illness or Mitchells perceived apathy for the targets and strategy lead to an unwilling and umotivated DoF with his own ideas feeling like he was being undermined.
A man who's never stayed in a job more than 2 yrs was never gonna spearhead our 5 yr development plan.
That's water under the bridge. The frame work for the current predicament.
However, that can not be blamed in totality for the shower of a window the club have experienced thus far.
When we did the Bruno deals etc 2 things were clear.
1. We still weren't seen as a serious threat. The cartel thought that it would be containable.
With their attention being focused else where, we were able to do good business quickly and quietly. None of those deals were played out in public.
2. We needed to recruit for every position and the cartel were pretty well stocked.
The targets we went for were the 'nearly men', the ones who were 2 seasons away from world class about to have their break out season.
Bruno, Isak, Botman are all there now. Tonali was joining more advanced in his progression and matched the other guys level.
The all grew together. This season the plan was to add the next level of players to match our current squad without having a development gap.
Before the Ekitike deal the media were freaking out. They had us as outside title contenders. The dark horse. :
Like Leicester, 'Never again', the cartel couldn't allow that to happen.
So they got everything, all systems UP.
All agents. UP. All contacts informed 'If Newcastle reach out to sign your player or reach out to your agency we want to know immediately. We want all the details.
All media outlets UP.
Meaning that all our business, executed in swift silence previously was never going to be possible once the machine slipped into top gear.
So this is the situation as it stands.
Like him or loath him Simon Jordan made an interesting comment 'Time for Newcastle United to pull on their big boy pants and make statements.
I'd go in deep and hard for Paqueta (we all know he's a top quality player not the betting BS is behind him) or Oihan Sancet (17 goals last season for Bilbao) & Amir Richardson or Mahamadou Doumbia for the two Midfield additions.
At this point, Woltemade's move to Bayern looks to be at grindlock. Stuttgart want a lot more money that Bayern aren't prepared to pay.
Stuttgart want 55m Euro. Bayern don't want to pay more than 45m Euro.
We've put in bids for players at 80m Euro. The smart play in a 60m Euro bid which is well above the 55m Stuttgart want & Bayern would have to pay well over their price.
The lad is better than anything left. He's better than Sesko TBH. It's the better deal.
Paqueta, Amir Richards & Woltemade would the three I'd go for.
