Watching Hugill warm up against PV and Wigan he looked streets ahead of the other forwards in shooting/scoring ability. In the games he looks like he has the football equivalent of the 'yips'. It's been going on so long now I'm afraid that even a lucky one in off his arse isn't going to be a cure. Similar psychological problems have effectively ended careers in golf, darts and snooker.
I think the bottom line he isn't very good.
We've had some bang average strikers over the years, and he isn't even average.
The only reason he's still here is we can't afford to pay him off,and nobody will have him on his current wages.
An example of us paying too much in wages in the first place, something that all clubs do,thankfully we don't do it too often.
Spot on TLC. Jordan should not be starting as he offers so little and probably inhibits us actually as he slows everything down. With him and Kelly in the same team we have little chance of gaining momentum. Even coming off the bench shackles any charge of the light brigade attempts at the end. He's had a good career and will be pretty secure financially but unfortunately he's probably not even league 2 level anymore as he hasn't got whatever he had that got him the big moves anymore. Father time has caught up.
I agree, I think Hamshaw had initially thought 'If he's here and we're paying for him we may as well try and get some use of him' and he's given him a fair chance to prove himself again rather than just bombing him out of the squad. He's not taken that chance at all and if the other strikers were fit I don't think he'd even be on the bench. The ONLY improvement from him this season is that he's not falling over as much, which ironically makes his performances even more anonymous.
The thing that frustrates me about hugill is when we press. He stands pointing his finger telling others where to go whilst he just strolls about.
He puts in the effort but only on his term's, which is when we have the ball. Sorry Jordan but it's a team game and 60% of the time we don't have the ball
Oh for a Smith/revell/Derbyshire type player
People used to call Smith limited, but my God he made the most of his limitations,on paper Hugill should be a top player at this level, but after over 2 years with us,he has shown very little of any talent he`s got(Had).
To be honest,on the little I`ve seen of Sherif and Etete, combined with Nombe and JJ,it wouldn`t be a bad front 4 players,so we don`t need Hugill, when everyone is fit.
As Hamshaw says, when he`s got a full squad to pick from,we will be a half decent side.
Think best thing we can hope for is come January hopefully have scraped enough points together to keep out of the bottom 4 and God willing Nombe will be back and IF he isn’t sold maybe we can raid the piggy bank and come to a settlement on paying Hugill off he’ll only have 6 months left and depending on the success of Sherif and Etete our striker situation will need looking at again
I’ve not included JJ as I’m not convinced he wont get injured again
Could be Jordan Hugill's excuse is,
that he does not get the service, which
looking at most games he has not.
Perhaps if MH sent him to a Hypnotist
it could help Hugill.
Try anything once.
In any other industry (except the civil service) performance levels like this bloke has delivered would have got him the sack. I wonder what do the other players on a lot less money that him think of the whole situation, is his situation impacting the squad off the field as well?
