I remember that game at Hillsborough so well. We were all on the open Kop at Hillsborough and I remember us singing Singin' In The Rain. We were all soaked and the colour from my jacket soaked through to my shirt ruining both. I think Wednesday were top of Division One at the time and a newspaper report at the time said that Wednesday's only error was to try to match their push and run style of football with Rotherham's
But for Frank Casper I think a much more momentous goal was a couple of years before that. We were away to Burnley in the F A Cup. At the time they were a top Division One club and we were a Division Two team. In those days if you didn't go to the away game you'd watch the reserves and every 15 minutes they'd put up an update on the score. I was watching from the Railway end and Burnley were winning 1-0 and then a small boy ran across the front of the terraces shouting "Casper's scored, Casper's scored" and I think it was that goal that attracted Burnley to him and he and his family have had such a long association with them after that.
Incidentally, I think the replay was at a near full house at Millmoor. We were winning 2-1 with two goals from Barry Lyons when Colin Clish broke his leg. With no substitutes playing a top First Division One club with only 10 men was too much even for the Mighty Millers and we lost 3-2.

Colin Clish one of heroes, I think we would have won the game up to Clish breaking his leg.
Colin Clish when he retired from football, joined the railway police.
If I did not go away to watch the first team, I also went to watch the reserve team in the North Regional League.
Sometimes I went to watch the Blades if reserve game was not on.
