The penalty was a penalty in the modern game as much as I don't like the interpretation these days. Sadly it cost us the game and the radio commentators thought that it was a damn shame but had to be given.

I didn't see the game, I was at a big band gig, much more rewarding than watching PL football with VAR involvement these days.
One thing I will say is that Michael Oliver doesn't hate Burnley as many of our fans seem to think.
No, and I think the Sugarplum fairy is real too.

Telling for me was the fact that the Liverpool fans were as quiet as church mice throughout the first 93 minutes until Michael Oliver (who else?) gave the Anfield outfit a very soft penalty.

Esteve & Ekdal were immense, Oliver reduced us to ten men for exactly the same misdemeanour a Liverpool player escaped with. Just my opinion (of course) but the EPL and PGMOL hate Burnley Football Club with a vengeance and it shows.

A strong word of praise for Scott Parker post match who refused to blame Oliver, he's a better man than me Gunga Din!
I am getting worried BT. I am agreeing with you more and more. I am getting therapy.

Just wanted to say commiserations - great battling performance against probably the best team in the league.

If you keep playing like that I?m sure you will beat the drop. Slightly gutted as we lost in stoppage time too yesterday.

Good luck for the season just not against us 😎

I am not sure it was unlucky, just a matter of time. Hannibal has strengths and weaknesses, I remember not liking him turning his back on blocks last season, today unfortunatly instead of getting close and standing strong, he turns and the momentum of the turn the arm gets raised.
It's a bad technical trait that should have been trained out of him at academy level. Like I say it's not a one off, he turns his back often on the block, and he got caught out doing it today.

WHo was it then BT because Bradley was booked for exactly the same sort of tackle on Anthony and I haven't seen any other.

It was Kerkez. He was booked for diving. Committed three bookable/yellow card fouls straight after, one which nearly broke Anthony's leg. Slot who is no dummy whipped him off and put Robertson on allowing Oliver to protect his ten outfield players.

I thought at the time Parker would have been wise to sub Ugochukwa too#

I was only able to see the highlights which showed only two decent Liverpool chances missed which speaks volumes for our defence.
Very hard to see what Hannibal was trying to do but as has been pointed out staying inside the box was a bad mistake.
Disappointing as the result was the performance has to be encouraging.
