Swansea 0 - QPR 1 (Burrell 18’)
Yalcouye sending off ruined the game as a contest. Swans concede a soft goal and were lethargic in their play once again.
The R’s much more organised and looked the better team, but they marred their performance by falling to ground at the slightest contact.
The big lump of centre-back, the wiley Steve Cook got the diminutive Yalcouye sent off on 34’ but Cook was the instigator after Yalcouye was tackled by Cook in the penalty area. Ref waved play on, no foul he said, but Cook confronted Yalcouye off the ball in an aggressive and in your face manner and appeared to head butt him. Yalcouye retaliated and after consulting the linesman the ref Busby sent him off. I don’t think either player was hurt but Cook collapsed and writhed on the ground, cheating to get Yalcouye sent off.
He succeeded and as an afterthought he was yellow-carded by the inept ref.
Second-half Swansea rallied and did well with ten men, had their biggest chance at the end, Vipotnik missing an open goal as the ball bobbled just before it reached him and missed his outstretched foot by inches.
Fine margins, but no escaping the fact that we are not playing to our potential and that is down to Sheehan and his coaches to rectify.
