It also depends on what her estate agent does for her. If its fully managed I'd expect them to give her guidance.

I rent out a property and my letting agents fully manage it, and they ensure I am upto date with any paperwork etc.

I'd also expect them to make sure I have the appropriate paperwork before putting it on the market even if not fully managed.

Thanks AF. Over here, our version of council tax comes in 2 varieties. The property owner pays it on the property. The resident pays it too. Owner occupiers therefore pay both bits. Is that the same in the UK?

Occupiers whether owners or tenants are wholly responsible when the house is occupied. If the house is empty and not tenanted the owner is responsible, if empty because a tenant has vacated during a tenancy, the absentee tenant is responsible.

Its just plain stupid but no big deal, although at a wider level it makes you question the fitness to govern if they keep cocking up on simple things…it seems the toolmakers lad has a cabinet full of tools.

Better than the corrupt inadequates from Johnson’s lot, but I can’t really disagree about your ‘fitness to govern’ line. Far too many mistakes and incidents of forgetfulness from those who are meant to be running the country for my liking.

Ha, ha. Sorry to disappoint, but its…I expect those in charge of the country to be more responsible for their own financial affairs although, tbf, the most recent information would suggest that it’s all a bit, much ado about not much more than another excuse for some political mischief making.

Talking of whom, it’s strange how certain aspects of the media go after Rachel Reeves for little more than a technicality but completely ignore Nigel ‘Twelvejobs’ Farage. His ninety four grand MP’s salary is apparently not enough for ‘man of the people’ Nige. Don’t know how he can manage his constituency work properly with another eleven (!) jobs to fit in.

maybe his other 11 jobs are all in teaching and so he gets plenty of extra weeks off during the year and only works until 3pm each day giving him plenty of spare time to do his constituency work.....
