A virus could wipe us out tomorrow. Yep, live in the 'here and now'. Best advice you could give anyone.

If we're that concerned put the brakes on the planets population explosion. In 1950 we had 2.5 billion people on the planet. It's a species Earth could do with a lot less of.

The fact that we are in an ice age has got nothing to do with the current global warming which is demonstrably caused by man made emissions. We are distorting the temperature range within a natural ice age cycle and are moving towards tipping points which within 15-40 years are predicted to hit 2% and become accelorated and irriversible. You could stop all breeding tomorrow and if left unchecked, our current trajectories will hit 2%, It's just a case of how soon and whether we can build on (some promising) changes in the acceleration to avoid hitting this point. We certainly will have more chance of doing this if people stop denying it is happening despite having no evidence to prove these scientist reports and evidence to be incorrect.

But I do agree with living in the hear and now - but with a a regrettable but necessary investment in the future so that the kids don't have to endure what we have set them up for.

On a more positive note - Reuters have just published this update on China's emissions output:
