Unfortunately for me I did watch and, urrggh. God that is ****ing depressing. That people genuinely fall for this **** and spread it around.

In short, the graph on Earth's temperature tells us nothing useful about the situation we are in now. Yes, of course the Earth has been warmer, of course it has. What matters is that human life wasn't in existence then, and in much of it, physically couldn't exist! God, this is depressingly basic. Even my 13 year old daughter gets this.

What matters to us with regard to the Earth's temperature is the current stable, relatively low temperature over the last few million years, which I talked about in a post above, with the problem being that there is a sudden spike in this temperature which if left unchecked will soon become a spiral back into former global temperatures with which man would struggle to cope. How do you explain that sudden rise? If not by human CO2 then what? That spike is unprecendented in such a short space of time, global temp takes thousands and millions of years to make small movements.

Your man here obviously doesn’t even begin to try – he just shows us an irrelevant big graph and points to data on it that bears no resemblance to the current climate situation. I’m assuming he’s not thick, so I can only assume he’s deliberately aiming to mislead us. And boy do you make it easy for him!

And he says “Ofcom fines anyone who challenges global warming data” - It’s just lies! You can challenge global warming data all you want, but what you can’t do is present news information that is misinformation or deliberately misleading. Which is what this man just did to you in regards to world temperature, and yes he would get fined by Ofcom. Rightly so.

You're the one that chose to put a link with a movie that you clearly hold dear.

I simply pointed to one of the many pieces of data he was presenting as information on climate change, and I explained quite clearly how his data did not tell us anything about the current climate change, and how he was deliberately presenting this to mislead his audience. He certainly seems quite confident that his audience and targeted demographic will not check his data themselves. To be fair to him, he's quite skilled at what he does. He knows his audience well.

Just so we're clear. You could try and explain how I've got this wrong and present further evidence that might hold a little but more cred than your man in the movie, but we both know you can't.
