    World Cup

Let's be honest there's **** all else to look forward too, what's the chances in the SNP relaxing alcohol laws to allow opening of fan zones? I realise they're illegal in current Scots law but surely they can relax laws a bit?

They might as they will like to jump on any perceived success and unless Scotland get a ****e draw they should qualify for the KO stages.....they will want to be on board with that propaganda.

The kick off times (UK) are 5pm, 8pm, 11pm and 2am.

Not a hope in hell of any cooncil allowing people to congregate in fan zones for 11pm and 2am kick offs and I really 100% don't see Dundee Council allowing it at all, might upset some bats, badgers, junkies, illegal immigrants or the like.

Bar lunch today. Two couples, maybe 30ish at the next table chatting about going to the World Cup. They were on their phones looking at accommodation for the the four of them and their kids (don't know how many) and for Granny to look after the bairns while they go to the games. Seems they have taken a punt and got flights booked to Miami. So far so good but I worry for them hearing the rest of their conversation (good fun). Their geography left a lot to be desired witnessed by their descriptions of the left side of America and the right side of America rather than West and East. Their idea of distances also was very strange. They are hoping to get tickets but if unsuccessful intend going to the games anyway. They 'know' internal flights will be expensive and maybe difficult to book and accommodation at the games once the sites known also difficult so they were looking to rent a car and do day trips! Apparently Miami to the left side of America is "further than London" and depending on where the games are they " might not be able to get there and back in a couple of days".

Good luck to them and to all the others that travel and I hope they have a great time but the distances would be too much for me unless Scotland had all their games in a fairly compact area (unlikely) and you were able to get flights and accommodation there at a half reasonable price after the game venues were known.
