Hello from Nashville boys and girls. An absolute tanking inbound.......
Leeds face a daunting trip to the Etihad this weekend on a terrible run of defeats that has dragged them into the drop zone for the first time this season. Their opponents Manchester City are dealing with a wobble of their own, aiming to avoid a third successive defeat after losing at Newcastle and then falling to Bayer Leverkusen in midweek. City sit third in the table, already seven points behind Arsenal, and cannot afford more slip ups in the title race. Leeds cannot afford any either, which sets the stage for a meeting that carries pressure from every direction.
A hangover from City?s recent setbacks feels unlikely. They have not lost three games in a row since last November and Guardiola rotated heavily in the Champions League, making ten changes and keeping Erling Haaland on the bench. The striker is fresh for the weekend and already has 14 league goals, eight more than Leeds have managed as a team. Even with Rodri and Kovacic out, City remain one of the league?s most complete sides and will expect to dominate the ball, something Farke acknowledged when stressing the need for Leeds to keep possession rather than go long for the sake of it.
Leeds arrive with injuries of their own. Anton Stach is definitely out until next week and Sean Longstaff has been ruled out for between four and six weeks with a calf problem. Seb Bornauw is struggling with an MCL issue and will be a late decision. These absences hit the heart of the side and force yet more reshuffling, something Leeds have endured all season. Farke refused to hide behind the situation and made clear he would not use it as an excuse, but the reality is that the squad is stretched in important areas at the worst possible moment.
The pressure around the club has been loud, something Farke confronted repeatedly in his press conference. He spoke about focus, about the group staying tight, and about the need for clinical moments in both boxes, the part of Leeds? game that has been missing. He also reminded everyone that last season was the best in the club?s history and that outside noise never goes away at a club like Leeds. The objective data still gives him belief that the team can achieve survival, although he admitted that efficiency needs to improve if they are to climb the table before any January additions arrive.
Selection will be watched closely. Brenden Aaronson remains a lightning rod for supporter frustration, yet Farke gave him strong backing and insisted he will not single out individuals, though he also hinted that three full matches in a week is unlikely. Nmecha should lead the line again after scoring against Villa and Leeds need his hold up play if they are to relieve pressure and bring others into the game. With Stach out and Ampadu one booking from suspension, midfield balance will be fragile. Farke spoke of work on the left side and the possibility of adjusting the system, but kept most of his plans private.
This may be one of the biggest tests Leeds face all season, yet Farke stressed they will not travel in fear. The team has trained well, the mood is calm, and there is a determination to respond after playing well without reward against Villa. Leeds have been hammered at the Etihad before, and City remain overwhelming favourites, but Farke has beaten Guardiola once and insists belief has not vanished inside the camp. Leeds will need intensity, discipline, and a level of effectiveness not yet seen this season. A result would be a shock, but a performance with fight and structure would at least signal that the team is ready for the long battle ahead.

Fear this one could be a proper pumping![]()
Not sure I have got enough whiskey in to see me through today , best nip to Aldi![]()
Fear a 4 or 5 nil hiding, and depending on how the team play, which I expect poor, it might well be farkes last game in charge, if not by next weekend he?ll be gone, if not he?s got more lives than a cat.
If he starts Aaronson , given all the recent press talk about Farke saying he's concerned about his mental health etc then I would suggest Aaronson must have some compromising photo's on him.
I have started weekend by watching championship football, Stoke-Hull city, seeing as we might be playing in that division next season.
Aaronson dropped. I thought Aaronson played well against Villa. But Gnonto needs to play today. Tanaka, Gruev, Ampadu, James to start. The guys who brought us up. Looks like farke is ready to leave with the "his team". The guys he took up.
